Day 12.

Today is going to be a low key day for us. Rainy and nasty out side, so my wife and I brought in firewood and made a fire in the fireplace. Getting ready to settle down with a book and a cup of coffee. I am currently reading The Wager by David Grann. You might be more familiar with his other books, Killers of the Flower Moon and the Lost City of Z.

Have a Great Super Bowl Sunday!

DAY 11

I've noticed a couple of posts with an Opinel and, as it's been a rubbish day here (cold & wet) here's the SD with my only one. They're not really practical for me and, as the decent sized ones are locking, not really an option either  ::)
They don't like it up 'em!

Day 12

Still stuck writing... so.. much.. writing.  I have the game running to my side, and a couple friends keeping me company.

Powernoodle Day 13

I used the Center Drive to open an Amazon package containing 5 cheapy headphones.  I use these on my laptop and Roku remote.  One will last several months or longer.  When it croaks, I like having a new one ready to go.

lol here the original, playing with a filter to see how convincing it is. I'm at work and hadn't used the Armbar for anything, but the pic makes it look exciting

WDT '24 Day 13
Today I used the CD to clip some cable ties, but didn't get a picture.  So, to make up for it, here's a picture of the kids with their grand pappy. The Dual Force, the Center Drive, and a Military Provisional Tool.

Day 13. Not much to do today with the CD. So, I decided today would be about show and tell.

Here is a pick of my two CDS.

Here is a pic of the sheaths that I have for the CD. Black is standard that I got with my now long lost SS CD, accessory leather sheath I purchased from Gerber a few years back, and tan molle sheath that came as part of a USGI Otis cleaning kit for M4 and 9mm.

Finally, here is a quick pick of the two different bit kits that come with the CD. The standard you all will recognize. The other has the M4 sight tool and two long bits.

Anyway, didn’t really know what to post today. If you have any other CD accessories or items, I would be interested to see them. Thanks for watching.

:iagree:  David, I have been carrying my CD in it with the standard bit kit. Kind of has an old school Leatherman feel, but with the added benefit of having the bits readily available.

Powernoodle Day 14

I attempted the removal of a splinter using the Center Drive's pliers.  I knew it wouldn't work, and it didn't, but I tried anyway.  So I defaulted to the tweezer on a Victorinox Manager.  I figured out that the splinter was metal when it was attracted to the tweezer.  Moral of the story is that the lack of tweezer, scissor, etc. on the Center Drive, Dual Force and Slim make it a good idea to carry in addition a Manager, Explorer, etc. if you want all of your bases covered.

The Center Drive is a solid toolset, but it definitely lacks the refinement of the Swiss offerings as far as tolerances and tool sets go. The newer ones, as everyone present knows, can be customized to a degree with scissors, etc.  I think it's the difference between a SAK in pliers form and a multitool built to tackle the big tasks.

Can anyone here say that they'd EDC, literally, the Driver tools?  I can say, for me, that I'd love to have had any of these tools on my grandparent's farm or even in the Army.  If I had only the Center Drive, I'd carry it and probably not give it another thought.  With the selection of SAKs and multitools I have, that's where the difference comes in.  I reach for the Center Drive for the driver and the bit set, but I can't say it would be my exclusive multitool.

I can see the Center Drive or Dual Force being the primary tool for a real workin' man who needs grabby and cutty tools on his belt.  For the rest of us, who do manly things like opening Amazon boxes and removing splinters, the plier head is more of a "just in case" EDC tool.  I still like to have an MT-based plier or Knipex with me, in addition to an Explorer Plus and maybe an Opinel.  Plus all of my other toys.  The rare occasions when a plier-based MT can make life easier or save the day makes it - for me - generally worth carrying.

Surge,  :iagree: with Barry. Lovely Oak version with black blade.  :like: :like:

Thank you gents  :hatsoff:

It was a gift from Mrs Surge a couple of years ago whilst she was on her annual cheese/Champagne devouring sojourn at Chateau Surge (the coastal pile in Nice)  ::)

It's my only one because the UK don't like locking blades and the smaller ones are too bulky for their size IMHO  :dunno:
