KBMT? I've been contemplating getting something like a T4. I like the Free P and K series, I know they won't compare to Vic but they're not bad.

Knife Based Multitool. I'd love to see them iterate on it a bit more, and try to find a way to make it work. Unfortunately (unlike say, the armbar) it's hard to point to one or two issues vs just needing to fix almost everything.

Day 27

Probably not much today, church, lunch, back to the church to disassemble some Christmas trees, then being lazy. As one can guess, I'm always prepared but my gear doesn't always get an opportunity to get used, most of its what my work is.

As for KBMT, completely agree. With the knife being the focus it doesn't seem implements get as much attention as they need to. With the Armbars, it's a bunch of things that are just "ok" in terms of performance and quality. But, I find them pretty useful even with thier shortcomings.

Day 30

Final (for now) thoughts on the Benchmade Weekender…

Conceptually, I love multi-bladed premium steel knives.  (They seem oddly hard to find though, given the positive glut of single blade premium steel knives on the market, but I digress.)  And if they have some other tools in addition to knife blades, so much the better.

While the quality is typical Benchmade with no obvious flaws, I find myself less than enamored with this knife overall.

I think my biggest complaint is that the handle/closed knife is both unusually wide and oddly shaped, making it awkward in pocket compared to competitors.

The bottle opener does open bottles, but I feel like design effort was lacking here.  Apparently a small flat screwdriver on the end of the bottle opener would be too much to ask.  A bottle opener is also one of the easiest tools to improvise if you don’t have one on you.  Perhaps Benchmade should have dropped the bottle opener and focused on improving the handle.

As mentioned in my previous post, I feel like design effort was also lacking on the small blade.  Again, the quality is there but the design seems like an afterthought.

So, to summarize, I give the concept an “A”, the design a “C”, and the quality/execution an “A”.

Perhaps I’m being too harsh.  But (though I got a good deal on this one) when I get a knife that retails for $200+, I expect it to be darn near perfect.

Thanks for a fun challenge everyone!

New Orleans is fun.  I swear I gained 10lbs in a few days with all the food I was eating.

Day 31 - Final Entry

The Voss was more useful than anticipated.  I expected the package opening endeavors and such, but I've never used a KBMT to change a bicycle tube tire.  First time for everything.  For it's final duties, the blade opened a package of napkins and the awl helped me refill my Zippo in preparation for this evenings explosive events.

Can't wait for next years SAK-A-Like challenge as I have 2 more SAK-A-Like's I'm fixing up that I would like to throw into the challenge.

Happy New Year to all!  May this new year bring the best that life has to offer!

See y'all in the OFFICIAL 2024 JANUARY CLASSIC CHALLENGE!

Day 28

Got to thinking about KBMT's and decided to carry my K2 today. Used the small driver on the tool to pull tabs from the shelves while doing a reset

Goes by quickly doesn't it? I don't think I've got any other challenges till the Opinel one, I have enjoyed carrying the Armbars. They're decent tools for the money, only issue I have is the one hand opening blades aren't easily opened that way. Long as you know a tools limitations are, you won't be disappointed by trying to make it do something it can't do

Day 29

The K2 will get lots of use today, don't think I'll get any action shots though. I'm headed to a store that's having a reset, and I'm going with my boss to assist. I'll do more tag pulling, Arc is on my side for bending shelves that might be bent some.

Yes it is! Neat little light, I plan on reviewing it at some point. Only thing I don't like is the pocket clip, if it was deeper maybe I'd carry it more. I just got a Viperade sheath to carry it and my Arc together so it's getting some much needed carry time.

I did use the K2 today, plenty of use pulling tags today while I moved an aisle worth of product.

Thanks for the info!  :hatsoff:

I'm considering getting the model in orange - strangely enough, I feel attracted to orange edc items...

It's a great light, it has great output, long lasting battery and I like the tail switch.

I think it's pretty neutral, mines the Nichia 519A vs the Cree XPL.

Btw the photo is the roof of my car, I was running the heat and scraping my windshield and thought it would make a good pic.

That's pretty creative.  I thought it was some sort of countertop.

Day 31!

Had to pull 10 doors worth of freezer goods because there's a coolant leak and they need to pressurize the line and isolate where it's located. Got all the product in the walk-in freezer and door didn't want to lock right. I backed the stop out some to make sure it would lock when someone shut the door.
