Day Ten

Tried a task today that I didn’t think the Micra would cope with. Twisting a fastener with the “large” flathead, which I expected to be too narrow. Luckily, it was fine.

Like so many of my jobs on nights, it was done one-handed, above head height, and with only a headtorch for light.

It’s slightly easier with the package opener on the P2 or P4, but perfectly manageable with the Micra.

 DAY 10

So today....posting a little later than intended.... morning started with me waking up with start, and wondering if I turned the IBC off last night when I was filling up the watering can for the ducklings, before bringing them up...

...as you can clearly see, I didn't....and lost 800 litres of water, the Micra scolded me.

Now with the ducklings out....the Micra supervised to ensure I did it correctly..

....i went to work, as I had a 2 hour drive to get to my first meeting at 8am, and then another hour drive to my next site meeting at 10am.....I didn't take pictures as to busy, but I am reshaping 1.2km of water course for a project on adaptive management...drove back home only to find the ducklings are turning white, as their adult feathers are starting to develop ...the children are growing up so fast *sob*

Day 9

I used my Micra to open a birthday gift from Leatherman.

(Image removed from quote.)

Was the case the gift, or was there something inside it?

The leather sheath and sticker was a gift... after spending $50 on my birth month... after spending over $240 this year (minimum spent to make Insider Tier 2).

But I'm not complaining because I would have spent that anyway.

Hello Awl
I am a bit late with my day 9 pic.
There were more airplanes on day 9 with the dreaded security checks so valuable treasures left at home. Then my   last flight to my home town was cancelled and we had to go to Auckland and get bussed back home . Such fun.
Anyway a blue plastic coated Micra today.  Not sure the point of the cover other than collecting gunk.

They do look pretty cool as long as they don't collect too much gunk.

Another great day, y'awl!

Day 10

I tested the Micra's curious little tweezers today. They grab well enough, but they are a little awkward to use. I awlso find them a little on the flimsy side. It's no wonder Leatherman extended the height of the one scale to protect them a little.

Day 10

Busy day, 😌 but not cutting, no scissors, not filing, no cap lifting, really boring.

Then joined a group at a local winery, outdoors concert, wine and other beverages and pizza.   Along with folding chairs.

First, the pizza was not fully cut, the big stockman handled that…

Then one of the ladies unfolding her chair, snagged her wrist watch, and the band pin popped off.

The MICRA  medium flat blade, fit perfectly and inserted and guide the pin into its hole on the watch case.

IMG_5913.jpg
* IMG_5913.jpg (Filesize: 136.98 KB)

Sorry, no pictures at the scene, many thought me weird for having a HUGE KNIFE, in my pocket and then more so for the tiny tool to repair a watch band.

So I slid my chair down the way for a better view of the country music band. May not associate with those folk again.  🙄
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 10

Last week my better half bought me a micra I had been looking at on ebay.  The ad said for parts, and 7 available.   That evening I received an offer for $5, it was the last one.  So she hit buy now!  We didn't look at/ or see pics.
It looks great , almost no wear or damage, except one of the lock/ stop tabs is broken off.  Still, it's cool.

Day 11

Finally getting around to putting buttons on cargo pants pockets. The Velcro doesn't grab anymore. I was thinking of putting one button in the middle of each pocket, but I'll go with a button on every corner.
So I removed the Velcro with the Micra. If this works well I'll replace the Velcro on pockets of every cargo pair of pants and shorts I have! :D

Not impressed with the hole punch, the Micra blade was much better at making the necessary holes.
But it worked! The snap buttons are great!
Gonna replace more Velcro, and start putting them on sheaths and bags too. :D

I'm not a fan of the tweezers. I'd rather have both handles have the tiny cut-out, instead of having the tweezers on one side, with the giant cut-out.

 Did you get flack for having the slipjoint?

I think I’ve noticed that recently Leatherman has become more socially acceptable than Victorinox.    A month ago I was at work and someone brought some pastry for themselves. It ended up being more than enough to share, and the coffee stirrer wasn’t cutting it

So of course I said, “I’ve got something better to cut with”, and one of the ladies said “oh do you have a Leatherman?!”

I said “Swiss Army, it’s similar “ as I pulled out my Pioneer X.  I thought that the “warning” about a Leatherman did avoid alarming people, but the SAK was side eyed a little bit.

It seemed that people are more used to Leatherman than SAK nowadays.

What do you awl think?  :multi:

Y'awl are doing some wonderful stuff with the Micra  :2tu:

I'd love to carry mine more but it'd mean putting it on/taking it off the keys every couple of days; or forget and risk losing it at Heathrow, as it's not "issued" (notwithstanding that I carry my Surge every day, in and out  ::))

Day Eleven

No use so far, and a much later post. I’m off for a week and adjusting to being back with the day-walkers.

The Micra was the perfect companion for a supermarket trip, along with my newest acquisition, a Windeler Stak of pliers, slipjoint knife, and flathead screwdriver.

That's an interesting assertion. I've never been specifically asked for either, but I've been able to break out SAKs in very mixed company with little worry. I guess that when you open up a screwdriver or scissors, that's somehow a little more socially acceptable. Carrying a fixed blade in stoopid Michigan, not so much. :twak:

The Micra lacks a tool that is suitable for bending the ends of the wire. But if you're in no hurry and don't treat it too roughly, it could handle every other aspect of this particular job.
