Marlowe - your quote reminds me to just give the SAK a chance and it will do amazing things.

Day 5:

Sportsman assisted to restock the drinks fridge, and opened a local ale.

I know I am late to the party, but I just signed up and received my Sportsman today. Would you fine gentlemen be ok if I started today?

Here is Sportsman opening a box containing my new coffee cup.  New cup required because my favorite cup dating back to 2007 broke a few days ago.

Yes!  Pictures. Pictures. Pictures

Label day 1. Day 2 etc…

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Thanks LoopCutter and Gary (via PM). Sorry I have not replied to your message yet, but I am not sure how. There does not seem to be a reply button

Day 1 (for me):

Newly arrived Sportsman ready for duty.
Opened a box with new dog toys with the knife, and removed some dirt of my trousers with the file.

Good first day  :tu:

Day 6:

My SAKs usually ride shotgun as a secondary knife, and they do not see a lot of cutting action, except as backups. The tools get a workout instead. I believe I was still on the factory edge after two years of ownership. I noticed the Sportsman was not gliding cleanly through paper and cardboard anymore, so it was time for some tender loving edge care.

This was not a complete reprofile, just a fresh 20 dps micro bevel. I'll probably reprofile next time.

Day 2 (for me):

Used the knife to open a bag of bread. The Victorinox breakfast knife took over from there.
Also used the cork screw to retrieve a tea bag, after the string slid into the cup.

It was a long work week and my sleep deficit had been building up, so last night I was feeling rather tired and didn't get around to posting anything. Today will have to be catch up day, so expect another post some time later on...

Day 5 didn't see any use at work, but the Sportsman came out as soon as I arrived home for cheddar duty once again. Apple and cheese is definitely one of my favourite snacks. You've already seen a cheesy action shot though, so here's something a bit different.

This one is the Wenger Evo Soft Touch 10. The Wenger tools differ a bit from the Victorinox Sportsman versions but I think it might still fit the criteria for this challenge? These scales feel really nice in the hand but I've never really carried it because I'm not sure how durable they would be getting bounced around in my pocket with keys and other junk. You can't really see from the photos, but it does have tweezers and toothpick in the scales as well.

Nice pics, folks!

We are definitely open to some Wenger/Delemont/Evo contributions in this challenge.

My EVO 14 has the same nail file.

Looking for a Sportsman. Instead found a Ranger for 50% off     I think 5 layers ,  attempted to cancel, said they could not expect Monday

Also, a EVO 10 is same tool set as Sportsman, 🙄 the 14 has scissors.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I am really liking this small knife in my pocket. It disappears when I don’t need it, but  it is still always there.

I have found the Sportsman one of my favorites and probably grab it more often the others.

Here it is with an Evo 10

Day 6

It started easy by opening new granola

There was an event called “clean your country” where volunteers get together and collect a garbage (city, village, park, forest wherever they want). We cleaned our neighborhood

We collected lot of stuff in couple of hours

I have to admit I cheated the challenge as for some tasks I needed to use something more heavy duty…
I hope that you can forgive me this exception.

In the evening I took my wife to Ennio Morricone’s concert. It was amazing! I couldn’t carry the Sportsman though because I wouldn’t pass the security gate…

Now going to bed as it is already 4 mins after midnight so technically I already started day 7

Good night!

I really like the look of this Wenger! Seems pretty much equivalent to the Sportsman - brothers from another mother...

All good! And well done for contributing to a worthy community project. 👍

I noticed the green Bond MI6 Nato strap. I have the exact same one on a Seiko Turtle diver... I am a big fan of the Nato-style straps (to be more specific, the thicker 3-ring Zulu straps). Most comfortable and practical straps I've found.

Fantastic! I'm a bit jealous!

Yep, I’ve got a Vic-era Evo 10 I need to make sure to carry for a few days during this challenge. It’s the exact same tool set as the Sportsman.
