Is it because it is not multi purpose like some other utility knife?I think the popluarity of a certain youtube video does bring a lot of attention to the Millwaukee utility knife in the past years, and I still have yet to get one.
It's supposed to be small, but it's really thick, and extremely heavy. And it's not as well-made as the regular Fiskars utility knife. This one has a lot of play when closed and when opened. But the pivot is not a screw I can tighten to reduce the play. The Gerber EAB is miles better than this, if you're looking for a small folding utility knife.
I carry mine in a Ziploc bag with the rest of my fire kit, so that keeps everything dry.
Day 25Smart move Nate, the test confirms that the striker is completely destroyed when wet. I would have thought it would be more durable like wet/dry sandpaper. [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
Day 26(Image removed from quote.)I tried starting fire with this 8 W2 leds Hanklight (approximately 7000-8000 lumens?), but wasn't successful. I have seen it done on YT in the past, and my wild guess is the relative humidity is usually really high where I live and it's been raining for the past few days, so it's even harder to make it lit.

Day 25(Image removed from quote.)Imco keeps a new Hanklight D4K triple channel company.(that's a mouth full). Really liking many of the Hanklight offerings--you could practically choose any popular led installed in the light with different functions/configuration. This particular one has dual white/Red/UV led all installed on the same chassis. Thanks to the Anduril flashlight software, it does make it rather easy to operate, despite a complex configuration.
Here are a couple of my favorite fire starters all together.(Image removed from quote.)
Day 26Strike anywhere would be nice.. sometimes strike nowhere works too. [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
That light looks very floody. My first thought would be that you may have enough output power, but need a way to focus the beam.
I've never tried with a flashlight, but I suspect it has a lot to do with the focal point of the lense. I doubt any of my lights are strong enough to do it. None of my lights break 2000 lumens, most are even below 1000 lumens, But now I'm now wondering if multiple of them combined might work....hmm Day 26 (Image removed from quote.)
Of course you are going to talk flashlights, one of my weaknesses.
is that a DT8 or DT8K? i've been looking at picking up one of those how do you like it?
I never really considered the larger tenacious and Rescilence knives, but after trying a smaller persistence when I need free shipping I'm now thinking I've been missing out haha
That's a DT8K with the 21700 battery and 8x W2s. Basically, it is just a hot-rod flashlight, mainly for the wow factor and put a smile on any flashaholics. I think DT8K is probably a better platform for this purpose, a little more battery power and mass to delay the step down just a bit longer. I never really did measure the actual step down time, but it is really short since the thermal protection probably kicks in rather soon. For more practical purpose, I think any dual-channel D4V2, DT8, D4K or the latest D3AA will be great EDC choices. (sorry for the de-rail, but once talk about flashlight, I just can't keep it under my hat...)
