Is it because it is not multi purpose like some other utility knife?
I think the popluarity of a certain youtube video does bring a lot of attention to the Millwaukee utility knife in the past years, and I still have yet to get one.

It's supposed to be small, but it's really thick, and extremely heavy. And it's not as well-made as the regular Fiskars utility knife. This one has a lot of play when closed and when opened. But the pivot is not a screw I can tighten to reduce the play.
The Gerber EAB is miles better than this, if you're looking for a small folding utility knife.

I tried starting fire with this 8 W2 leds Hanklight (approximately 7000-8000 lumens?), but wasn't successful.  I have seen it done on YT in the past, and my wild guess is the relative humidity is usually really high where I live and it's been raining for the past few days, so it's even harder to make it lit.

Thanks for the feedback, if I were to get one, I am thinking maybe the Milwaukee one?  It looks kinda promising, not super heavy and has a small 1/4 bit adapter which is quite handy.

I carry mine in a Ziploc bag with the rest of my fire kit, so that keeps everything dry.
Thanks for chiming in, Ziploc bag is definitely a great rainproof/waterproof solution for anything outdoor.

Day 25

Smart move Nate, the test confirms that the striker is completely destroyed when wet. I would have thought it would be more durable like wet/dry sandpaper.    [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]    [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
Carrying a dry strip inside the container is a good move, and sometimes I do miss those 'strike anywhere' matches, which I bet it will work even with a MT or SAK file...

That light looks very floody.  My first thought would be that you may have enough output power, but need a way to focus the beam.

hoping to get a chance to try these 2 out over the weekend

I've never tried with a flashlight, but I suspect it has a lot to do with the focal point of the lense. I doubt any of my lights are strong enough to do it. None of my lights break 2000 lumens, most are even below 1000 lumens, But now I'm now wondering if multiple of them combined might work....hmm

That is why I don’t like matches that require a strike pad, you have to keep it dry.

Day 25

(Image removed from quote.)

Imco keeps a new Hanklight D4K triple channel company.(that's a mouth full).

Really liking many of the Hanklight offerings--you could practically choose any popular led installed in the light with different functions/configuration.  This particular one has dual white/Red/UV led all installed on the same chassis.

Thanks to the Anduril flashlight software, it does make it rather easy to operate, despite a complex configuration.
Of course you are going to talk flashlights, one of my weaknesses.

Day 25

I have something similar called Spark-Lite, it is handy.

Ever since I carry a sling bag for babysitting my little guy, this lightweight urban pouch has been with me for the past year or so.  Not all items come in to use all the time, but even once a few months, all these has proven to be valuable when needed.

It surely is not as focused as those with big reflector, but the optics together with the W2 led do produce a bright, big round hotspot with ample spill light down range.  Maybe somewhere in between a pure flood and a no-spill all spot beam?

That's a DT8K with the 21700 battery and 8x W2s.  Basically, it is just a hot-rod flashlight, mainly for the wow factor and put a smile on any flashaholics. :D  I think DT8K is probably a better platform for this purpose, a little more battery power and mass to delay the step down just a bit longer.  I never really did measure the actual step down time, but it is really short since the thermal protection probably kicks in rather soon.

For more practical purpose, I think any dual-channel D4V2, DT8, D4K or the latest D3AA will be great EDC choices.

(sorry for the de-rail, but once talk about flashlight, I just can't keep it under my hat...)

I never really considered the larger tenacious and Rescilence knives, but after trying a smaller persistence when I need free shipping I'm now thinking I've been missing out haha

I tend to like larger pocket knives, the Resilience was my first Spyderco.   I liked the look, length, and especially the flat grind on it.  I carry and use it quite often!

Considering everyone is talking about flashlights here's one I just got recently. Just a S2+, I wanted to try out 519A down in 3500k, I quite like it actually. I should go get a beam shot comparing it to the other 519A I have.

well technically it's not a total derail bic i've heard the DT8K gets HOT 🔥

i've been looking at the DT8 and the DT8K with the W2 emitters they look like they've got some good throw and flood but i've heard they do get HOT!
