Day 17

Wife found Little Boy on the counter after my post the other day and used it to open mystery bags for the kiddo. We’ll pull staples out of the bags.

Day 17

I used my Rebar on my Spark drone. It was handy to grab the micro SD card and remove it from the slot.

Day 17

Switched from the Opinel to this Case Tony Bose swayback. I don't find myself reaching for my dedicated knife as often as I expected, mostly just making do with the Rebar. Opened a few boxes and pulled a few nails, but didn't get a pic.

Well played Sir.

Love me some Tony Bose and really need a swayback in my life.

Have you tried a Back Pocket? Love mine.

Day 18

The conference I am at is so huge that Leatherman has a booth there. I talked to one of the salesman, Jeff, and he was super nice and listened to me babble about collecting multi tools. When he saw my modified Rebar, he flipped out and said he wanted to tell Tim about it. That made me feel really stoked but also sad because this kind of thing is on the internet every day and I swear they ignore it. Oh well, maybe I can get my Rebar signed. You never know.

Checked into the hotel for my wife's convention, and the toilet was a little stubborn. Rebar not needed, just adjusted the chain with my hand.

Day 19

Went to the conference for half a day, then drove almost 7 hours home. Backed in to the driveway, took one bag out of the car, and got paged for a structure fire with the house filling with smoke. We looked for over an hour for the source, and it ended up being a wire that burned in half in a crawl space and caught the foam insulation on fire. The owners were super lucky it didn't burn the entire house down.

We ended up using my modified Rebar to take off cover plates, pry up tack strips for the carpet, and check outlets and romex for power with the Volty Switch that I keep in the bit exchanger. The guys on the crew couldn't believe I had a voltage checker on me. And yes, we double checked with a "real" one before leaving.

Oh yeah, after two and a half hours of that, my wife came to pick me up and I got immediately dispatched for rapid intervention on another house fire in the county. Didn't get settled in until midnight, so I decided to wait until tonight to get caught up.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present... <drum roll> ... The Poncho!

Although I'm not quite done.  The Kick clip spins around too easily, so I need to find a way to fix that.  I also want to try to modify a diamond file so it fits - only then will this be an authentic Poncho.

The reason I like the Rebar so much is it's similarity to the PST, which has been my daily edc for 25 years.

Edit... going to have to resize the picture at work tomorrow.

Thanks, guys  :hatsoff:

Poncho, does your pocket clip move from side to side easily?  If not, what did you do to keep it in place?

Day 22

Returned to work today to find a post it note on my desk - "Urinal in men's room not flushing correctly. Janitor said he tried to fix it but couldn't.". Oh joy...

The Rebar (equipped with a Wave bit exchanger), an extension, and a double ended Wiha 3mm security Allen bit opened it up so I could replace the batteries (which hadn't been changed). It worked the same, so I swapped out to a Wiha 5.5 regular screwdriver and turned the pressure up just a smidge. Yep, flushed perfect. I doubt the previous attempt to fix was very involved.   However, it gave me a great original use for my Rebar for the challenge. I was just disappointed the Knipex pliers didn't need deployed!
