(...)But the one that really surprised me was avionics technicians. I already have an Airframes and Powerplants certificate, so I have at least some familiarity with aircraft. My AS is in aviation maintenance technology. And I trained in electronics in the Navy. I'm thinking that avionics could be a great field to get into, even though it may be a little competitive.
I have probably stated that my life is dynamic and very much in a state of flux right now. There are a lot of different avenues I could pursue, and finding a new place to live is on the front burner. The career change will sort itself out in due time. And Mike Rowe's foundation is well worth looking into. Thanks to all for the suggestions and encouragement!
Not too long ago, I got one of the VA News e-mails. In it was a link to a list of free courses for veterans offered by IBM. Next think you know, I created an account. I'm now taking an introduction to web development course. Things are looking up!
