I'm trying to process this. You're saying I take an old beater MPXXX, chop the handles off, remove the screws, and I can use the screw holes as a wrench to pull the screws on the one I'm working on?

Given the options, I'd rather use MP600's chassis for it been all solid ( without the sketonizing of most the 400 series), for longevity.

Day 5

Another easygoing day; "The Mutt" helped separating the scales once scored out of an old chassis, and also to hold them while belt sanding to round off their corners and adjust fit around the locking tabs. Cameo apoearance by one of the Evo's.

Huh, that helps a lot. It might be time to go buy a couple of busted up MP600s on the bay for parts...

Day 5

MP450 helped with taking stuff down at the old apartment. Probably would've been better off with a 600, but trying to rotate through before I double up. It got the job done, including loosening up some nice big bolts (gave me a little pinch in the process). I think the 450 is probably the most practical MP for me for EDC. The Gerber scissors are about the same size as the 74mm Vic scissors, and I'd rarely, if ever, have the MP with me and not have the Executive on my keys. A full size file is handy for a lot of stuff, even with the file on the SAK.

As a SAK fan, I can't say no to a multi with a corkscrew. MP400 CS is a good orange peeler.

Day 7

Old School (Gen 4?) Mr. Pinch today. No uses. I think this is probably my favorite size out of all the MPs. A bit heftier than the MP400, but still rides easy in the pocket. The pliers head fully recesses, which is nice.

Does it have some function, or did Gerber just run out of tools? I believe there's one less driver (small flathead) than a modern MP600.

That, and the thickest lanyard ring in the MTverse! :dunno:
Nonetheless, one of the best and toughest tools that has ever come from Gerber!!! :2tu:

Day 8

Mr. Pinchy on duty for a very good mail day! Sharpening puck (already used to touch up the machete after I hacked up some dead stuff yesterday), Gerber bit kit (which does fit the old MP), new sneakers (old pair demoted to yardwork yesterday), and a Case one armed bandit and coin that I'll have to post over in the trad forum later. Yard work is a great excuse for new goodies!

Also, Pumpkin cameo, but not her best side.

BP, Mr. Pinchy is still my favorite Gerber too.  It was my EDC for about 8 years last century.

That flashlight shot could be a poster or something.

Day 9

No use today, but I want to (as always) salute Gerber for making an actual bladeless tool (unlike the Rebar that still has a saw). I don't want to leave a blade in my desk at work for someone to stumble across, and I like being able hand off something knifeless to the collective morons of the world. This is probably my least carried (it just lives in my desk) but most used Gerber.

Pinchy helped replace a shower curtain rod. These outer screws could've managed with the stubby phillips, but the driver really helped with the inner recessed ones.

Being a tough Gerber it might withstand clumsy usage by "the collective morons of the world" better than some other MTs, and you are still being helpful to those in need.

After breaking one of the pliers rests (because "I wanted the perfect tension"...), and after two attempts at remaking it, I finally succeeded. People, be careful with those tabs as they can (and will) break if manipulated.

The Bladeless was used for making a new strut for the "Yerbabuena" pot. Sorry for the blurry picture, as my phone's camera struggles when it is dark (or., in this case, getting dark).

Day 14

At this point in the challenge, Mr. Pinchy has established himself as my firm favorite for work EDC. Today, he got a Center Drive Plus out of the mail. With only 6 (less than an MP400 or a Bond, tied with the Rev) tools, the double blades on the basic Center Drive are a bit greedy, IMO, even if I do like having a separate plain and serrated. It looks like you can get a PE w/ scissors through Gerber's customizer, which I might've preferred, but it would've jumped the price I paid by over a third. Great bit set, so-so sheath.
