Anyone want to recommend a good keychain flashlight? The Olight I've been carrying is having some issues, and I assume things have improved somewhat in the last decade or so since I bought it.

RovyVon and Nitecore both make some nice keychain lights if you want rechargeable.

Day 1

I'm kicking this off with the LED Lenser i9 CRI.
Mixed feeling about this one.
The sheath is very tight, and leaves most of the flashlight dangling below the belt and it gets banged around on furniture and stuff.
No clip.
No lanyard hole. It comes with a silicone ring attachment for a lanyard, but if you put that on, then the flashlight does not fit in the sheath anymore.
Two C batteries.
It's discontinued and I got it for a steal of a price, so it's good enough I guess.

I decided against joining this one for a few reasons. I don't own many flashlights. A couple that I do own are OOC. My flashlight use is awfully repetitive. And I'm awlready doing two challenges this month (and earning a badge for neither of them). But I'll be following along with interest! :salute:

Surefire defender.
I bought this a few years ago and did not carry it through fear of dropping (I do have butterfingers)
But my recent realisation that if I am not going to use something it’s pointless owning it prompted me to start carrying it.

Been carrying it for a while now and have not dropped it yet
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Day 1

Is this a flashlight challenge or a pocket dump?

RovyVon A8 is on my keys. 6.5K main bulb; red, white, and UV side lights.

Day 1

It's good to be here!   Been a long time flashlight enthusiast, and this is my current EDC flashlight in my sling bag.

Hanklight D4S, triple channel(with 3 different led emitters, independently controllable), 2x 519A, 1x UV and 1x Red leds.  I discovered Hanklight last year, and there was no turning back ever since.... :D

NU25 is a gem, really light weight and great for summer.  Recently I've hooked on ultralight pouches, they are a great way to organise small items inside a big pack. :tu:

Nice one!  I have the same light with the sexact same metallic blue coating, but different configuration.   I do wish they would offer this in triple channel, since it has got 8 leds in the first place.

I often feel the same with more expensive gears, but I too realized that I'd be missing out if I don't carry them often.

The NU25 really is a sweet light.  I’ve had an original version for several years.  This is the new version that I got by accident (thought I was buying the original online but was sent the new).  One thing I really like about the new is the clips on the back of the bracket, which make it easy to clip onto any 1in webbing.

I can tell you from experience that Surefire flashlights can handle most drops, as well as other abuse.  I carried one for several years in the Navy and it saw some serious use.  I remember bouncing one down a ladder in the engineering plant onto a non-skid coated steel deck about 10ft below.  It also survived being drenched in salt water and extreme temperatures.

Thanks

Same here now. I still feel the urge but once something picks up it’s first inevitable scar the pressures off and you can just enjoy them.

They are definitely well made, and made to be used hard :tu:

Day 2
Little malkoff MDC head on a lumens factory body and tail cap.

This little light is a favourite and sees lots of use. I think malkoff have updated it as this one is an older model but until this one fails (i think I will fail first) i am holding off on replacing it.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

my edc light is a Surefire L2 Lumamax from way back when,it's served me well, chipped lens and all [i need to send it in to be repaired, been chipped for too long, and i don't know how that happened].
my "backup" is a Fenix E01,which is carried in an Ostrich-skin pouch i cobbled up,to carry my edc SAK [Deluxe Tinker]

I really like Malkoff lights.  I have an MDC with the HA LMH Rechargeable head.  It is well-built, reliable and Made in USA.

I am actually thinking of getting one of his heads to upgrade my old incandescent Surefire E2D.

This radio has a little flashlight built in. It's not very good, and it can't be doing the battery any favors, but an extra backup is an extra backup.

I hope you're not too deep into the Flashlight Rabbit Hole!

This radio has a little flashlight built in.
I have a Baofeng that's similarly equipped. If I hit the wrong button at the wrong time, it'll strobe.

Though I'm not participating, I am following with interest. I'll post a photo of every flashlight I can find in this house before the challenge is over.
