Very true!
Day 7 : A slow day with a good book on the "Middle" ages

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

This is the first time I edc a magnifying glass, but  haven't used it to read, just to take a splinter out my wife's palm, but frankly the glass didn't help that much. The tweezers did, however !

No pictures, as, again, she would not have appreciated my taking the time for that at the moment.

Always better to keep your wife happy than to impress the MTO brothers, I say.  8)

Days 6 and 7:

I just got back this afternoon from a couple of days out hammock camping. The main blade, saw and file were all used to cut new toggles for hanging my tarp and bear bag.

Today. I used the main blade to cut the tab on a jug of water, and the awl to punch a vent hole.

used the SC cap lifter to open a tin of pipe tobacco.
I haven't smoked in over three months, and it's unlikely that I'll do so again, but I'm curious...how was that tobacco?

Swisschamp helped me to finish a pocket slip for a Pioneer X.
Looks good! :tu:

Playing catch up a bit. Since we are moving, we started making phone calls to close services. One of those being our wifi which ended Monday morning. The kids have been playing on our phones while we have been packing and loading the trailer. So here it goes

Day 5:
Took a little break and helped my daughter make a couple of beaded bracelets. Used the scissors to cut the sinew.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Day 6:
I hauled my weedeater in the last load we took and it's in a storage unit 200 miles away. Used the scissors and main blade to cut these suckers off of the crab apple tree in the front yard.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Day 7:
The house is a disaster with boxes and junk everywhere waiting to be packed at the last minute. So here's a messy end-of-day moving picture.

Day 8 Post

Bought a new brand of maple syrup.  It has a very thick stick-on seal under the screw on cap.  Seal would not pull off, so, small blade cut it, following the ID of the bottle.

Day 8 : playing with the pliers

The one thing I really was afraid missing without my LM with this challenge are "real" pliers. To be honest, up until now, I've survived without them, but I know that in July I used the ones on the PST every other day, so I'm less sure how these would hold up in a work situation. Well, time will tell.

MONSTER DAY 07

fell asleep last night before I could post this...
used the scissors yesterday on my 91 SC to cut open a snack.

Was looking over a brand new 90s era SwissChamp that I picked up recently for 50 bucks.  :ahhh

The 91 SwissChamp i already had has a hook but also has a screw in the scissors. apparently the screw went away in 1991 and the hook also came out in 1991

( :dd: what a great year 1991 was. simpler times sigh...)

its kind of cool that i can date my earlier SC to the year 1991 so it will live at home getting some occasional use but the newer 90s SC that I just picked up has the rivet in the scissors and so will be my new workhorse pocket carry  :tu:

TOOLS USED SO FAR:
✅ Pen
✅ Flathead on cap lifter
✅ Magnifying Glass
✅ Small blade
✅ Reamer/Awl
✅ Cap lifter
✅ Scissors

I used to smoke pipes and cigars quite a bit but I've also been on a hiatus as of late. So this was rare for me to have some. However it was aged about 12 years so it was quite excellent. That particular blend is very mild in the nicotine department. basically just Cavendish and Virginia. it was a nice treat because my pipe smoking buddy was in town but I don't think i'm going to be picking up the habit again anytime soon. but you never know  :ahhh

We are making the big move on Saturday. Hopefully we can make it in one trip and not have to come back for anything. The worst part is that we will have to unload it in a storage unit and then we will close about Aug. 23rd so we will have to load it all up and move it again 😭

pocket carried the 1990s era swisschamp on a #1 size S-Biner by niteize. i've found this is a really easy and low profile way to carry the SC in the pocket. awlso carried  my mini LEP cosmos laser flashlight today.

it was a bit misty tonight and the water droplets look cool interacting with the laser beam flashlight
Here's a beamshot  :ahhh

Are those Micarta scales?

Yes. They’re red RGT linen Micarta scales from DLT Trading.

Day 8:

Today was a main blade heavy day. I opened some bagels for breakfast this morning, and separated some bags of charcoal this afternoon.

Day 8: SC Scissors

On a road trip and Snack time rolled around. My first instinct was to grab my 58mm Jetsetter scissors. But then, a flash of the #SwissChampChallenge photo in my mind stopped me.

Snack packs were conquered one by one with the Swiss Champ Scissors.
