MONSTER DAY 13

i'm a bit of a night owl tonight. went to the beach again today but the SC stayed in the car. it was in the pocket later in the day but no uses. so here's a group shot of all my swisschamps.

the one closest is the 1986 SC with the slim pliers and no hook the one in the middle is the mid 90s (1995 i think) and the one farthest away is the 1991.

i've been enjoying catching up on everybody's posts :salute:

Day 13 (makeup)

Internet went down before I could post yesterday's pic.

One of the below has a bear in the background... small dot in the river,  but the best I could do with my phone and ensuring the XLT remained in view.

Fingernails need some attention.  This file works great.  Just have to avoid touching skin.  I do not like skin in this game

Day 13. Sorry for the delay in yesterday's photo.  I was in Court all day.  Swisschamp was with me, but I couldn't use it. In the photo under the Swisschamp a law from my country.

red lights can be really useful especially on a boat.
:iagree: They're mandatory when darken ship is in effect.

Made a mallet and the SC helped a bit.
Nicely done! :like:

I've never tried the metal saw's file on fingernails. The stippled type is my favorite for that purpose.

I was in Court all day.
Nothing too bad, I hope!

Day 13: SC Can Opener for A Compact Makeover

Today I transformed my old EDC Victorinox Compact with a fresh, vibrant look.
The SC's can opener was used to remove the old scales that were worn-out. The new bright yellow ones, paired with new scale tools, have given my EDC Compact a whole new life.

Day 15

Did some sewing repairs. I've been using that backpack for edc for over a year and never got around to fix the small pocket that had come undone.

More backpack repair.
The front was missing a strap loop.
The second pic is the Ruike LD51 awl point compared to the SwissChamp awl point. The Ruike is inline, and with a very pointy tip, perfect for a seam ripper. With the SC I could not get under the tight stitch to rip it. Though I doubt the Ruike awl tip would survive drilling into wood.
I managed to find a strap the same width as the good side, and now it looks like new. :D

Day 15 post

I needed to make a shorter temporary spacer.  Used the SC saw as it was handy and a rough cut on one end was not important.

Days 12-15:

Sorry it’s taken me so long to post. I spent a few days canoe camping, deep in the Santanoni preserve, and totally forgot my phone to take pictures with. But I did manage to make great use of my SwissChamp. I used the wood saw on the first day, to cut lengths of a long hemlock branch, in order to create poles to open up my hammock tarp into “porch mode”. The wood saw was also used daily to prepare wood for meal prep fires. The main blade and scissors were both used to cut cord for hanging lines to dry wet clothing and towels, as well as guylines.

After canoeing back to my campsite on the third day, I moved a piece of driftwood and promptly got a wicked sliver under my middle finger nail. I used the awl to push the wood out from underneath the nail. Then not five minutes later, I got another huge sliver under the same fingernail from an old and rotting picnic table. I went back at it with the awl, and finished up with the tweezers. Much colorful language was used during this process.

This morning, finally back safe at my cabin, I used the file to shorten all of my fingernails. The file actually did a pretty decent job!

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

While making breakfast, I used the scissors to cut a panel off of a new bag of coffee, to label the coffee jar.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I also used the main blade to open up a package.

And lastly, I took a cool picture with my SwissChamp and a huge model of a Swiss Army Knife at the Wild Center, a true monster for a monster challenge.

MONSTER DAY 15

Found a really great way to carry the SwissChamp in cargo shorts- i use the small #1 size s-biner and clip it all the way towards the back of the cargo pocket past the snap so when I snap the pocket shut it keeps the knife in place towards the back of my leg and doesn't whack into my leg or rattle around. It really works great and it got me wondering how everyone else carries their monster EDCs

later used the file to file a rough fingernail

Day 16

My XLT made it home safe and sound.  The perfect SAK for travel,  having everything I need. I think a small set of Knipex  would round this out well and could be my main tool set for many travel tasks. I do wish the Cybertool had a few more bit options without having to use magnets...hex heads in addition to the 4mm size would be very useful to me as camera gear and bikes often use 2, 3 and 5 mm sizes. A T20 would also be very handy.  But, all in all I really like this version of SAK.
