Day 04:

I skinned a clementine today. I prefer the Executive’s orange peeler; the Pioneer X blade cuts too deep.
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Wenger carried on making the SI for several years (I don’t know when they stopped) but with undated blades.
Makes perfect sense!

Out in the fields
:like: I gotta get more blue Alox. Someday...sigh...

Farmer to the rescue...
The SAK truly saved the day! :salute:

Carrying my modded Farmer X today.
Some cool mods there. If I tried making my own technician's screwdriver, I'd butcher a perfectly good can opener.

Yet another great day, y'awl! :tu:

Day 4

Another Pioneer for today. This one is black and of pretty recent manufacture. It's a carrier.

And I went out and about with the black carrier Bantam today. You're looking across the Detroit River at Windsor, ON.

I completely agree, but I would go even further by saying SAKs should be standard issue for every 16 year old (or 8 year old?). Teach them to take responsibility and solve life’s little problems from an early age.  :salute:
We pretty much start them with knives in the Scouts at about 8-9 years old, which I think is fine.

Of course, they receive instruction in the proper use and maintenance of knives, and can lose the privilege of carrying them if they behave irresponsibly with them.

They have to be very careful not to take them to school though.

Day 4:

The 93mm awl is my absolute favorite box opener. I may use the awl as much as I do the main blade on this knife.

Day 5

Here is a Wenger SI Soldier from 2004, a wedding gift!

I opened a package containing SAK mod parts! Etsy got me...

You'll notice the bail is gone... True story: I took a lot of effort one day to sharpen out a divot in the edge caused by closing the blade on the smurfing bail. That was not the first time...

That very same day it happened again.

I ripped the bail off in disgust!!!  :ahhh :twak:

It is safe to say I'm not a fan of bails. Give me a keyring like on the Pioneer any day, even though it is less comfortable in certain grips.

Gahhh! I hate it when my knives get dulled by their own parts. I don’t have any Swiss Soldier knives, but I do have a small collection of US military “Knife, Pocket, General Purpose” made by Camillus that have bails and do the same thing.

Day 5/30: Alox Bantam on Box Duty

Fresh, organic goodies from my brother arrived today - a box full. Used my Alox Bantam to open the box without any fuss. Its slim profile makes it discreet and almost unnoticeable in my pocket.

This is such a typical example of improvised can opener usage in my experience, and why it is one of the most popular tools for me...

I don't have the need to open cans too often, but when I do, it is the only reasonable tool to use, and it does an excellent job.

Apart from it's primary function, the can opener is a versatile light and thin pry and scrape tool (not to mention flat and Phillips drivers as well), and diverts a lot of abuse away from my main blade. The beefier flathead is also useful, but sometimes too thick to get under something or into an opening, or sometimes too blunt to scrape with.

 :like:

I'm preaching to the choir here... Everyone in this forum knows this already!  :D

I got one today. Wonder if it was the same system.

Opening up the Surprise Box GAW.
Did you need an Advil after picking that thing up?

It is safe to say I'm not a fan of bails.
I've yet to have a blade or tool hit a bail or shackle when closing. The same cannot said of back layer awls and key rings.

Used my Alox Bantam to open the box without any fuss. Its slim profile makes it discreet and almost unnoticeable in my pocket.
That's why I like the Alox Bantam so much.

Another great day, y'awl! :tu:

Speaking of the Alox Bantam...

Day 5

Time to show some green Alox. This Bantam is a safe queen. Sadly, Swiss Knife Shop doesn't seem to be having any more produced.

Both the dedicated cap lifter and the combo tool work equally well. In my opinion, neither has a clear advantage.

Today was air conditioner installation day at home. But alas, I did not have a Phillips driver on the Woodchipper, so I had to grab a legit screwdriver. Today amounted to a no use day, but I did take a glamor shot for you all.

Hey Farmer X, you are right about the awl and keyring collisions... I forgot about those because I usually carry an alox model without the back tools.

A custom Alox Voyageur cut open a piece of candy.  Never had it before but I do like sour, so it was worth trying.  Definitely, sour.  More sour and better than Warheads imo

The poppy is nice and agree Surge is a great guy.  The pin also seems very appropriate with tomorrow being the 80th anniversary of D-Day (Normandy invasion)
