The engineers from the warranty and quality assurance departments did an AMA at Reddit yesterday for anyone who is interested. Anyway, they cleared up the controversy over the replaceable wire cutters on the early ARC models:

A batch of cutters were made out of spec thin, the reduced cross-section made them brittle. The issue was how they were held in the grinding process, which was corrected and implemented very quickly. There's a perception that the ARC launch was related, but it was just an unfortunate coincidence (those cutters go into all our other tools w/ replaceable insert cutters also).
We've replaced them in every case I'm aware of. I'm confident we replaced many sets of good cutters for people that were concerned about the issue (it's not easy to tell by eye).
The large radius was an update several years ago like you mention. Not directly correlated with the manufacturing issue that we corrected.
Hope that helps
