Day 25

In addition to the kit I shared in an earlier post that includes essential hands tools,  I would grab my pets,  wife,  passports and back up hard drive with all essential financial documents, etc.  I would also grab a couple of MT that are not easily replaced, like Mr. Crunch or other discontinued models. I live in a fire danger area and have this as part of the plan. I have cash in my car and on my person with credit cards too.

Sorry Gary, by the time I made it back, the fire was already out and the sheepdogs were tucked snugly in their beds

Day 26
Glad to hear everyone made it through the wildfires and floods, etc.  If I am ever in another challenge situation, I hope it is something like a pepperoni pizza challenge.  Maybe ice cream if the temps go back up again?
Might as well show a photo of the Kizer I was awarded in a MTO giveaway for.....?  I don't remember what it was for.  I remember writing a campfire story for one contest, but that was for something else.  Maybe I won it for NOT writing a campfire story?  Anyway, it is a looker.  I will probably carry it once the weather gets cold again.  It is a little too conspicuous for summer wear.  Nobody would bat an eye at a multi in a belt pouch.  Pocky knives are okay except in the courthouse.  Fixed blades are usual and accepted if you are outdoors (hunting, fishing, camping, etc).  Carrying a fixed blade otherwise gets people antsy and is legally in question.  NC knife laws are unbelievably vague and open to abuse in interpretation.
Seems like there is a mini-challenge again tomorrow.  This month is surely winding down.  Best wishes.  G

Very nice! I would have gotten one, but that flipper opening has custom trouble written all over it. :(

Day 26.   Wharncliff assembly!

Two knives arrived Wednesday, one I ordered, and one I won on a pod cast.

I then begin thinking about the few Wharnies I have acquired in the last few years, since being educated via MTo.

Started maybe with the Copperhead vault release by  CASE and a thread here on Wharncliff, Lambfoot, Sheepsfoot  examples.

Not awl, but several knives sporting a Wharncliff blade.

Hope yours is as good!

Day 26: carrying my favorite combo - the Pioneer and the Signature. Saw only little use today to open a pack of candy with the awl.

I bought this red Pioneer to get some bad ass pocket wear, inspired by the pics of those cool worn Pioneers here in the forum. I'm one month in and can't report even a single scratch  I'm not sure if I should give it some fake patina with a stonewash or some sandpaper. My wife is against it, she said that fake wear is just fake after all...

Day 26

I am adding a propane kit to my Honda generator.  Here are a few of the tools I am using.  Hardest part was gathering the intestinal fortitude to drill a hole in the case for the propane inlet.

Having returned to the compound I got out my Multiforce mod in case I needed to do some repairs.
Thankfully all we had was wet ground.

DAY 26

Having survived ELE I was advised that the recently installed canopy/awning needed adjustment, lest the hair of Mrs Surge become damp  :twak:

I duly removed the end caps and tightened said bolts (not loose) whilst admitting I had done things wrong  ::)

Follow the Leader (Day 27 Challenge)

Whilst the forum is still working (thanks again Micah  :tu: ) Here's the Day 27 challenge.

CARRY something that you love, but nobody else does.

You could awlso CARRY something that caused you some embarrassment when you said...

"Hold my beer, I've got it" only to find; you didn't "got it"

I have at least one  :-[

Just a quick recap for the 27th.

Essentially, it's something that;

1) You love and nobody else does.

2) Everybody else loves and you don't

3) Something that you thought would impress but, when you whipped it out, it didn't (walk of shame  :-[)

4) You must carry it (unless illegal etc.. ::))
They don't like it up 'em!

Big shout out to everyone who participated in day 25 fire/preparedness challenge, it is quite amazing how well prepared we all are.

Still travelling with my SAK, and thought it may make an interesting photo, posing with a restaurant dish the family visited.

While going through all of my stuff, I realized I have more one-piece tools than I thought.  Here is a small sample.  You enablers made me go PocketWrench crazy - I have 6, 2 still in the original packaging   I also have 5 Shards, and I only remember buying 2

Day 25

I wasn't able to get my box of electrickery yesterday so I'm posting late.

Besides having a bugout bag in our SUV, and taking my portable backup drive with us, below are the sentimental items I would take with me.

My Kershaw Antelope as it reminds me of the times dad and I would go hunting.  Below that is my wife's grandpa's Western States pocket knife that I've been made the caretaker of.  Below that is the Winchester pocket knife that my wife's grandpa gifted to me.  Lastly my first SAK, a Tinker.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.
