DAY 9

Double post, but I am really loving the ring turn folder, this one is over 140 years old, and still has brilliant action....

Day 9

Way, way, WAY back when I had only a couple full-sized multitools, I always kept one in my desk so I would know where to quickly find it when needed.  Now that I have enough tools to outfit a small army, I still keep a multitool in my desk drawer out of habit/tradition.  This is the tool that currently sits in that honored position.  It doesn't see a lot of action, but it comes through in the clutch.

More nice Gerbers.  I need to get a Gerber one of these days.  I handled a Curve and maybe a Dime.  Oh, and a Strata.  The build quality was poor on these things.  The ones you guys have look good.  Something like a Dime might be fine for a just-in-case keychain sort of tool.  Most anything beats using your fingernails.  I saw an early Schrade multi on close-out at Walmart once.  It looked good.  Seems like it was about $11.  I should have bought it.
Remember there is a mini-challenge tomorrow.  I already took a photo.  Be prepared.  Right?  Best wishes.  G

Rebar in a belt sheath today.

Photo taken exactly 24 hours after yesterday’s and on the same tree stump, but  with rain (and snails) instead of sunshine.

Not much use, but a loose screw on an indicator stalk sorted with the Phillips.

Can anyone else see m47mu74nt attachment?  Could be just me?  G

I clicked on the file which caused it to download.  I was then able to see it on my computer.

Never could get a look at the Kershaw photo posted by m47mu74nt, so I figured I might as well help out.  I started to draw an artist's impression of one, but decided to wimp out and post a photo of something similar.  Maybe.  Since all flipper clippers look pretty much alike, this one should be close enough.
So mat mutant, this one is for you.  Since friend Aztec actually got a peep at the thing, he is welcome to provide a text type message making such small adjustments as he sees fit.

Yeah, I wish the Dime was Leatherman quality.  I love the design.

Hi Chippy J Yamaha person,
No reason you can't post a photo on THIS challenge.  Maybe tomorrow.  Rules for tomorrow's post are something Damascus, titanium, or carbon fiber.  Default post can be an Opinel instead.
Can't get a badge for just one post, but no reason at all that you can't participate in the ONE TIME ONLY 18th MTO Anniversary Challenge.  Anyone else out there following along are welcome to do a one time post if you wish.  Best wishes.  G

Unsure the duration or what my access will be.

I will try to keep up, but know the Day 5 challenge in the challenge will be a miss.
Look forward to awls contributions when I am able.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

:like:

A better look at the SAK with micarta scales and g10 liners.

My Curve seems okay. And the one-piece tools (Shard and Mullet) are good. But I agree that the Dime could use some quality improvements.

More great stuff, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 9

My house is full of cheap pens that have company logos. Some of them even work. :D

Mini Challenge #2

For Mini Challenge #2, on Wednesday July 10 please post a pic of any titanium, carbon fiber material or Damascus blade steel you may have.  It can be a knife, an MT or just about anything else.  Show your bling.  It could be the titanium scales on a Leatherman Charge TTi, some carbon fiber scales on a folder or a blingy knife with Damascus steel.  Or a fidget widget.  Anything goes.

If you don't have any titanium, carbon fiber or Damascus - no worries. It just means you are smarter than me with your credit card.  If that it the case, post a pic of an Opinel.  Opinels are awesome.

Don't have any titanium, carbon fiber, Damascus or an Opinel?  Well, you are screwed.  But that's okay.  A Challenge within a Challenge should be challenging.  Sos24/Sherry will have another Mini Challenge to be done on July 15, and unless she has changed her mind I believe it will be something that just about about anyone can do.

:salute:   :tu:  (Image removed from quote.)  (Image removed from quote.)

To compensate for the fail and coming late, here is my Day01 (yesterday's pic being broken) with Titanium (body and frame lock), Carbon Fiber (scale) and Damascus (blade)

day 9

today I want to highlight 2 things that no day is complete without. the Aeropress to make coffee and the Fellow Carter Everywhere mug (now known as the Wide mug). these have been with me for over 18 months and I gotta say that I'm impressed. I don't have acid reflux from the coffee made with the Aeropress and the mug while simple in design does hold a few less than obvious features that make it an excellent thermal mug. for those eagle eyed among you, you'll also see a pink cup in the background. these 2 items have turned my wife into a coffee fan so she also has to have her mug

That is a nice looking Kershaw M47.  Much better than the folding metal thing I posted for you.  That is one I found actually.  I wasn't really sure if someone lost it, or just decided to get rid of it.  After I tried a couple of times to sharpen it, I decided that they just chucked it.
For friend David.  Just work at things steadily and leave it behind at the end of the day.  If you can.  Big responsibilities, but you are a big sort of person.
I like the coffee press.  And the thermos mug.  Good additions to the challenge.
For friend Dan.  Nice photo of some pens.  I like giveaways.  Use them.  Toss them when they quit.  I used to carry a good pen, but just carry whatever I happen to turn up anymore.
Lots of nice things and good photos.  Looking forward to Leader powernoodle's challenge.  Best wishes.  G

This has been my daily combination for a few years.  I love the coffee that the Aeropress makes.  I recently discovered the method of making cold brew in ~5 minutes using the Aeropress, which is awesome for summer.

The insulation and ceramic liner on the Fellow’s mug is great.

I did have to recently pick up the new Aeropress Go +.  It is a sweet improvement over the original Go, but the mug won’t replace the Fellows for regular use.

Amen!

I have some news to post: Tasky asked me to post on his behalf that he will be bowing out of the challenge. He is unable to find enough time to complete the challenge in a timely manner (life blocks). He apologizes for this.
