Day 11:
New wallet and new Leatherman today! Man, this Rebar is STIFF and DIRTY! left some kind of black oily residue all over my hands. Scrubbed it with the dish brush and Dawn and re-oiled it after it dried out in the sun. Now, to find a food leather sheath that will also hold a flashlight

Black oxide Leathermans will do that.  At least the black part, not the oily part.  I always get a paper towel and rub down the black oxide  portions to remove the excessage.

:like: I only have one Opinel  ::)
For now... :D

A ballistic titanium pork bomber bottle opener.
That's a neat little OPT! :like:

I have a much better range on Opinels (and a few more stashed away). For such simple knives, it's amazing how easily they can pick up a story.
:like: and :iagree:

Today with Flatiron & Ambassador.
What are the Ambassador's scales made of?

Other doodads include some small files, handmade pin vice, thumb guards and a bandana for when I cut myself.
I've been meaning to ask you about carving. Will hopefully do that soon (this post finds me a bit pressed for time).

Man, this Rebar is STIFF and DIRTY!
Once it's clean and opening smoothly, I don't doubt that you'll find it's an excellent tool!

More great stuff for today, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 11

I powered on the Altimeter, so I'm featuring it today. The pen is one of my least-favorite SAK tools. Has anyone come up with an aftermarket tool that fits in the pen slot?

Day 11

I haven't had to maintain a lawn for several years. But I have recently moved and now have a small yard to take care of. It is a newly built home with a lawn of bermuda grass sod. Besides the EGO mower I posted a pic of and a matching string trimmer, my main lawn maintenance tools have been hoses and sprinklers:

Day 11

This one will forever be a shelf queen.  This Winchester knife was given to me by my wife's late grandfather after my wife and I got engaged.  He told me a gentleman should always carry a knife.  The year before he passed, he gave me another one for Christmas forgetting that he had already given me one.  I gave the second one to my son when he turned 10 and told him it was a gift from his Great Grandfather.  We will forever cherish these and the good memories behind them.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Well, gra.  What is the cute folder from Day 11?  Does it live in that padded case?  Everyone else probably knows what it is by sight.  Not me.  If they don't have red plastic handles, or are made by CASE then I don't recognize most things.

It's a Heinnie Slipstream link here - https://heinnie.com/heinnie-haynesr-slipstream

It's a titanium handled and S35vn blade, it's nice...Bought it, and found the steel a little soft for my liking, so trying to re-home it currently on BCUK.

If you complete something during the challenge, please share.

It's looking like I'll be doing just that,  GA.  My daughter just told us that she's going to move to Georgia with her boyfriend so he can try to get custody of his 2 girls.  And all this time she'll have 2 of our grandkids.

They'll have no jobs, no place to stay and I have no idea what they're planning and I'm worried about my granddaughters.

I'll have to make something that they can keep up with that will remind them that we love them....

Day 12: my EDC flashlight for the past 3-4 years. It's already the second one, because I lost the first. Glad that I always keep a spare in the box! It rides in my left front pocket together with keys and a tissue, so it's getting some wear on the anodization.

What are the Ambassador's scales made of?

Other is regular ceilidor scale and other one is made out of birch plywood, orginally it was meant to be temporary scale until i get new one but after i coloured it with permanent marker and it wore out bit i decided to leave that scale on place and maybe someday do other half too.

Day 4 Make-up

This screwdriver was bought at a yard sale in about 1978.  It was pretty well abused when I got it.  Since I have owned it, uses include drift, alignment tool, pry-bar, punch, and push tool.   A true “multi-tool”.  It is a Proto Professional currently about 16-1/2” long.  The tip has been partially cleaned since it got melted and peened over.
The most memorable use was when I was repairing a bent and rusted frame for a 68 Triumph TR-250 car.  The damaged/rusted metal was cut out and new material welded in place using the gas (oxy-acetylene) process.  There were several locations where clamps would not work, so this tool was used by my wife to push/hold the new piece against the existing frame.  Gaps between pieces are bad when welding.  For some reason she would jump back if I got the tip of the flame in the puddle of molten metal and things spattered.  She was 6 months pregnant with our daughter.  That may explain why our daughter has picked up the car nut bug.  Wife still shudders when she sees this screwdriver pulled out of the drawer.

Day 12 Post.

This is a single use tool.  It allows access to check the gap between the rockers and valves on an older 911 “air-cooled” Porsche.  Think 1998 and older.  Two maintenance items were very important for reliability and “low” operational cost.  Change the oil about every 3000 miles and keep the valves adjusted every 10,000 (6000 on the 78 and older).  Do use dino oil since it transfers heat far better than synthetic.  I decided oil was important since out of 8 factory gauges on the dashboard (not including the clock), 4 dealt with oil (oil level at idle, oil temp, oil pressure, and a low oil pressure warning light).  Also, it took 11 or 12 quarts of oil, IIRC.  Maybe the car is oil cooled, since it also has 3 factory oil coolers.
Valve adjustment required removing 4 valves covers, 2 on each side.  IIRC, there were 44 nuts that held on the valve covers.  The intakes were on top, the exhaust at the bottom.  There was stuff in the way when manipulating the feeler gauge, wrench, and screwdriver for measuring and adjustments.  This tool made the job possible and accurate.  The 0.004” blade is replaceable since it is fairly easy to  damage it while using the tool.  It was convenient that adjustment was to be done on a “cold” engine.  ie not started for 4 hours.

Day 12
An old X-Acto tool.  I dug out a few of the gouges.  There are some more down in a box, but you get the idea.  I had two of these handles originally so I could just reach for another without changing bits.  I think a friend wanted to get into carving and I let him have it.  Along with some other stuff I think.
    Best wishes.  G

Day 11

We're just chillin' in the office, writing reports and updating spreadsheets, when a coworker rolls in with his big, scary multitool, scaring the interns...

And here I am with my office-friendly multitool, coming in the clutch with my scissors, stapler, staple remover, hole punch, ballpoint pen, flat and Phillips screwdriver, tape measure, and paper clips.  I'm da real office hero

That looks pretty handy.   Way to tame those TPS reports.

Powernoodle Day 12

My 2023 Toyota Sienna hybrid with all wheel drive is my ultimate Man Purse.  I was turned on to minivans a few years ago when my Chevy Suburban broke down several hours from home.  We had 5 people and luggage to deal with, and everything fit easily in a Chrysler minivan that we rented.  Minivans hit that magic spot of being biggish on the inside, and smallish on the outside.

Noodle,
Nice looking.  We like our 2014 with only 123k miles.  Still reliable like our 2003 Sequoia.

Gary,
Looking forward to info on the mini challenge you mentioned above.
I love those X-Acto tools.  I’ll have to dig out one of my old boxes.

Hi Jeff,
The mini-challenges are on a 5 day cycle.  5-10-15-20, etc.  Leaders have been asked to state the parameters of each mini-challenge about two or three days before the actual date.  Just to let the members playing along know what they need to scrape together for a post and get some photos taken.
If you want to, you can post a first two mini-challenge photo as one of your daily posts now.  You can find out what the rules were in the old posts.
Just in case.  If the new Leader doesn't post a set of guidelines by the day before the challenge, we will have a back-up challenge.  For backup purposes only..... post a watch and pen photo.  MTO is all about back-up options, right? Best wishes.  G
