Sentimental value.
My father wasn't a collector.  He basically had one knife, a Buck stockman, until he lost it.  He couldn't find another and picked up this  305 which he carried until his death.

a gag gift from the guys at work. and I do call it a gag gift because they thought it would complete the look since I wear a bucket hat of sorts

Farmer X - your Corgi cars made me think about something on a shelf that is soon to be gifted to our Grandson for his birthday.  A few small items, some original owner Matchbox.  More memories.
Thanks Fireman.  Love those Bucks.

Shame he lost the Stockman but beautiful 305.

Day 15

I love the mini challenge topic! ♥

My most sentimental tools are all pocket knives.  The top pic are 4 knives I inherited from my maternal grandfather. He served in the Navy in both WWI and WWII.  :salute:  I don't know the story of any of the knives, but he carried and used all 4.

1. Frontier Imperial-Schrade - tang stamp dates it from 1976 - 1984, almost certainly it was closer to the earliest date.
2. and 3.  Imperials both dating from 1946 to 1956
4. Boker dating from 1920 to 1930

(Image removed from quote.)

These 2 knives I inherited from my dad.

Top: an unknown lockback knife with scissors, made in Japan.  I find it amusing because my dad always associated Japan with inferior quality items, an opinion likely born before all of their process improvements in the 70's.

Bottom: a novelty knife.  My dad loved trout fishing.

(Image removed from quote.)

Great collection.  I love seeing items passed down.

Day 15

My Leatherman Surge. This is my first pliers-based MT and what started me down this path. Still one of my favorite MTs and one I would want it stranded someplace. Lots of memories of jobs out had tackled over the last several years owning and using it.

Sweet carry
I love butane inserts because I don’t have to wory about evaporation, bit prefer the soft flame ones (whether Zippo brand or the Vector Thunderbird).  I like the Zippo blue torch insert for paracord, but other than that it is the soft flame.
Love that green

I have the yellow butane in another case, and I definitely prefer it.

Day 15

I initially planned to go dig out one of my older knives, but I'm going to do the opposite and post something brand new.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

This SOG PowerLock just got dropped off in the mail today, courtesy of one of David's giveaways. I think it's fitting for the anniversary challenge to get a little sentimental about the best forum on the internet, and all the good times we've had here.

Thanks for everyone here for accepting me, all the things you've taught me, and all the fun times we've shared.

Update: It fixed my toilet.

Day 15
Girl Scout Knife Collection

This is just part of my Girl Scout Knife collection, but the oldest and most meaningful part.

The are in approximate oldest to newest order going from left to right, however the far right one is the one  that I was first given and only one pictured that is not older than me.

The far right was  my first knife given to me by my Dad when I was 8 right after my first session of Girl Scout camp.  Girl Scouts played a big role in growing up, which is why the collection.

Another thing that makes these special is that other than the oldest  knife which is an Ulster. all of the knives were made by Utica Kutmaster, very close to where I grew up.

I also have this forum to thank for this collection being what it is.  After  my love of Girl Scout knives, Steve would let me know when he would spot a nice one for sale,. Which led to a few of these additions.   The most recent addition was a gift from Aloha, who saw the featherweight (3rd from left) knife at a flea market and sent it as a gift.  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Day Fifteen

My dad, being a Marine, had years worth of Soldier of Fortune magazines that had Cold Steel advertising prominent throughout the magazine . Man , what I wouldn't do to have a Cold Steel of my own.

Fast forward about 40 years I came across a chance to have a Cold Steel sword. I bought it. Wife thinks it's silly but my dad saw it and thought it was bad ass. It's pretty awesome to own sword
Cold Steel 1917 Naval Cutlass.

I'm checking out some of these for an upcoming Suspension Challenge.  I'm really beginning to like keychain tools.  Like SOS24 days, as long as you understand their limitations, they're better than not having a multitool.  That, and I've done a number on my hips and lightweight is really becoming an important factor for me at the moment.
I got this Gerber Mini Suspension-P in a set along with a Paraframe and a Shard for something like $20.00.  I figured that was reasonable.  Tool itself isn't ALL bad.  I wouldn't put a lot of pressure on the pliers as they look a lot like the pliers on the Dime.  Just have to keep in mind the limitations on these small MTs.

One of these days I'll pony up for a PS-4.

All three of these knives hold sentimental value to me.  The Case was my Grandfather's, the Benchmade I carried on my deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Sak is a Marlboro Outdoorsman that I had as a kid and restored a while back.

I'm not a big fan of the thin Phillips on the Roxon Phantom. So I ground the tip a little, and now I can open the Phillips and awl and use the square hole adapter with proper bits.

Very cool.  I had a Naval ceremonial sword that I had to wear for certain special occasions, but it didn’t have the same character

Day 15 - sentimental.

When I bought this model SAK, a Manager, it was first richer feature SAK beyond a Classic.

This occurred May early 1990s maybe 92 or 93

Carried this model every day since except when my first was lost in 2018, until a replacement was found.

The Space Pen has been around just about as long. Both are companions are I feel somewhat hampered if not within reach.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 15

These 3 are sentimental to me and as a consequence, don't really get used.

The Kershaw Antelope is actually a replacement of the one that was stolen.  My dad gave me the original Antelope and I'd use it to skin the deer we'd hunt every winter.  This one has seen some use but it's been put away for a very long while.

The Tinker was my very first SAK that my parents bought me as a gift because I was a McGyver fan.  It saw a lot of use but it's still in great shape.

The throwing star is something my dad gave me when I was a kid.  I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I'd practice throwing it at pieces of wood and such.  It's not really sharp but it was a lot of fun throwing it.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Hello
Today is my day 16 pic. I have enjoyed the pictures of the sentimental gear.
My pictures today are a family heirloom I know little of except that is at least 80 or 90 years old and of Irish descent and is Irish Blackthorn.
Some years ago I put it in a frame to protect it so the pics are not the best.
Perhaps one of the original multitools out there.
The second picture is trying to show the blue artwork on the sword. Anybody with information on this sword or type of work ?

Day 15:
I'm as sentimental as they come and have countless pieces that I've saved or been given. So I just used then one that was closest to me. My wife gave me this Case Peanut for Christmas the first year we were married. It's been in my pocket every day for the last 12 years and has been through some stuff. It's even gutted a big whitetail big I killed a few years ago.   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
