Day 6: opening up the package on a gift for my dad. Patina is showing up. A few days spent camping will do that. Sorry for the blurry photo.

30 Scouts in 30 Days: Day 6!

This Imperial BSA scout is a strong contender for the nicest one in my collection. Love the way the the rivets pop on the handle, and the scales feel nice and solid, unlike a lot of the other plastic ones. Bonus BSA knot bandana.

Day 5

When I’m carrying a Stockman, the main blade is typically held in reserve for tasks that benefit from its additional length or acute point.

Day 7.

Not quite a camp knife but a WWII pattern British "Clasp" from 1946 by Joseph Rodgers.  These ended up in the pockets of many a Boy Scout for many a year.

Day 7 GEC & Scout

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

As of yesterday I came to the understanding that the Scout is just not providing me any excitement.

This will be my last picture of my Scouts in a group.  The CASE scout Jr is my most liked, functional and rides well in the pocket. The GI Jack is a minimalist scout and cost wise the least expensive.  :hatsoff:

The Beaver Tail English Jack will continue through the day.

And, the GEC badge is my target goal. 😉
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

30 Scouts in 30 Days: Day 7

These Imperial Ireland "Crown" scouts are a great value. Last year I tested them against the classic Kamp King and I found them to actually be a bit nicer, but you can often find them NIB for ~$15, less than a well used Kamp King.

Used one of them to open up a new magnetic bits tray. My old one was fine for the apartment, but some of the bigger projects in the house require more/bigger bits.

Would like to hear more about the Jeep!

It's a 1987 Jeep YJ, funny little project car. Little bouncy for the trails, but it's fun. I'm currently debating what I want to do with it. I've heard tale of people doing am electric swap with them, so I could do that. This year normally has a carburetor but I have an EFI installed instead.

The AC on it is dead, and it uses the old R12 stuff, so I'll have to either convert it over, or just delete it. So that's why I'm trying to decide what to do with it. I could do a rebuild since I have to break it down part way, or I could just do the delete and leave it as is.
Or I could delete it, swap it back to carburetor and run a super bare bones engine compartment.
Or like I said swap in a used tesla motor mounted to the existing transmission. Obviously this would be significantly more time, money and effort to figure out.

DAY 7

Was a very busy day on Sunday...so a little delayed. I was the local county show, working as a steward.... while trying to entertain the family.

I have been carrying the stockman style traditionals, and there is something quite special about the case CV stockman folder

DAY 8

I have only three true stockman style folders, a case, a rough rider, and an original Sheffield (about 100 years old)

The original Sheffield stockman is far more robust than the newer versions, and will most likely last 100 years more.....and all my knives get rotated and used.

Nice. 8)

Thank you  :hatsoff:

I must admit, I always enjoy your daily selections and photography skills😉

Your ‘18 and its patina is captured to make it handsome.

The ‘47 is my favorite Stockman pattern, the ‘75 is next and is often my EDC just because of size and utility of the Sheepsfoot  blade.
An ‘18 in Yellow is resting in the drawer, a flea market find and save.

Someday when I grow up, I want to be like GARETH!!!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!
