Good work on the blade and scale swaps.  The one with the black blade is a good contender for the Feb. combo edge challenge.

Day 26

Stopped by the hardware store and grabbed some Lenox utility knife blades and a Klein micro bit screwdriver.

JonesE

Nice! I've had that same Klein model for almost a month, and it's almost perfect. Lowe's sold out quickly, so they're obviously popular. I like the Snap-On mini prybar as a prybar, but a small pocketable multi-bit driver has been a headache. I don't like the Picquic handle. Wera has some nice options, but they're not sold in stores (still am ordering one). PB Swiss is absolutely perfect, but they make Snap-On seem cheap. Thus, $15 and most bits I need on a regular basis (I admit, I do use two sizes of hex on it every now and then) was just what I needed.

Save for trying to get Cody to take some sheep photos (especially if there happen to be any lambs about), I am going to eschew mentions in favor of catching up and making a PSA. I have finally contacted a moderator about getting a badge approved. Hopefully they can get it done quickly.

Day 27 (catching up)

The EAB probably could have cut the last of the lasagna in half, but cleanup would have been awful. Better to use a dedicated paring knife.

Day 28

Time to dispatch some cardboard. Each piece was cut with and across the corrugations. Both blades performed so well that the result was another tie.

Day 28

Family Christmas get together this evening. And, despite telling them multiple times, “Do not buy me any gifts!, I have what I need!”

Nope, I received new pullover 1/2 zip shirts, three Carhart trousers, (my wardrobe is dated), car wash tickets and this box!!!!

I normally buy most of my Breyer horses in January, when Tractor Supply usually has things at 50% off.  They did that the day after Christmas here, and I was surprised to find they'd sold about 80% of the toys they had just a week before Christmas--normally, most of the stuff they have sits around a month or so.

Especially Epsons. My Workforce WF-3820 bricked itself during a firmware update, and I couldn't fix it. Ended up just buying a cheap Canon all-in-one from Walmart.

Sam's Club has the tank printers on sale, but after my last experience, I'm skeptical of buying another.

And if you try to unblock the print head it just uses like 1/8 of ink in a brand new ink. I tried to unblock the black and cyan last time, 2 attempts, and used all 5 color 1/4 totally.

That's just money down the drain.

Another cigar cut,  this time with the WorkPro.  Nothing special.  Just a cheap, hand rolled Nicaraguan, like the last one. Here in south Florida you can buy these basic, every day smokes in any gas station for about a buck and a half.  Special occasion smokes are a bit pricier.

This is why our HP printer is blocked from talking back to the mother ship.  I don't trust it.

Day 28

The EAB was busy today.  First, I needed to cut up some carrots for our rabbit.

Then it needed to cut open a new package.....

Day 29

Can't believe the challenge is almost over.

My son demands to make a Christmas tree on the back from his holiday workbook

NT A-500RP,  Olfa LTD-04 and SDI 0444C-K

Comparing them while cutting/tracing the outline of the christmas tree.

Ergonomics:
0444C comfortable.
A-500 excellent comfortable and stable.
LTD-04 the squarish edge is less comfortable.

Blades:
0444C 30' pointy but less sharp than the other two.
A-500 NT 58' very sharp.
LTD04 Excell black 58' very sharp

Locking strength
All are sufficient

Flex of tips
None exhibit any flex

I am not surprised I prefer A-500RP. Too bad didn't have the chance to try the 0.2mm blade.

@BPRoberts: awlways good to see Pumpkin! :dd:

@LoopCutter: unless it's a style I don't care for, I wouldn't turn down a new pair of Carharrts! :tu:

@cody6268: when I was obsessively collecting Hot Wheels, I referred to late December and January as the "toy doldrums." Amazingly, I found what seems to be a very recently released Lego set at Meijer today.

@Alan K: cheap or not, I bet it was a good smoke!

@AzteCypher @kaevin: no doubt your efforts were appreciated!

@ReamerPunch @JonesE: lookin' pretty good!

Day 29

I found another bus transfer in a sweatshirt that is now disused (and I can't bear to cut it up into rags). This presented the last opportunity for Stanley vs. DeWalt blade testing. Both did equally well. The conclusion: DeWalt blades work slightly better for my needs, but Stanley are still worth keeping around.

Tomorrow y'awl shall see two utility knives that have heretofore been unseen. And we should hopefully have a badge approved soon. Just please do not get me started on printers.

Day 29

With the interior Christmas decorations taken care of yesterday, my plan was to take down the exterior lights today. Well, it has been raining all day here so that didn’t go as planned. So, I switched focus and started filling nail holes and patching some drywall in the hallway and living room. My wife and I had talked about starting this project after the holidays, but I guess now is as good of time as ever.

@cody6268 Sorry I missed your comment the day before about the Klein 32611P pocket screwdriver. I agree that it is very useful. I am presently surprised by how good it is. For, $15.00 it has been the best tool purchase of 2024 for me. The onboard bit storage with reversible bits, the pickup magnet in the removable bit shank, and its compact size make this an easy edc carry in a shirt pocket.

I haven’t tried the Snap-on pocket prybars, but I do have the Snap-on pocket screwdriver with the slotted shank. I also have the shader valve remover and spark plug gappier. Although, I haven’t used either of those last two in the past decade.

Picture for size comparisons.

The Valet Auto Strop Razor utility knife cleaned up very well.  I managed to clean up the old blade as well but it does have some light pitting.  Going to try and see how well I can sharpen the blade.  It would make a good key chain or neck carry.

The "tape piercer" makes a really good nail cleaner.

Also was surprised to find the fairly recent Matchbox Working Rigs crane at Walmart today, hidden amongst the umpteen spray rigs no one buys.
