74mm pouches?

With the 74mm line discontinued, pocket carry is the only carry option I have available to me for a few Executives I have sans key ring. Does anyone have any recommendations how to adapt this kind of situation to keyring or carabiner carry? Leather and nylon pouches seem to only be available for 58mm or 91mm+.

There are options, though ready made options are few.
My first suggestion was the Rough Ryder leather knife slip.  I think they were only around $5.00, but they look too be out of stock at the moment.

Me, I'm cheap, I picked up this little slip when I went up to the Frost Cutlery store a couple years ago for 99 cents.  It's housing the ALCAN Alox Executive that I got a couple weeks ago.

Are you "crafty"?  You could always make something.

I made this one to carry one around for one of the Chuck Yeager challenges.   I used a small D ring from a dollar store dog harness to be able to attach a key ring.

I just made it longer in the back and folded it over and stitched the ring in.

Local hobby stores generally have some leather.  You can get a piece of tooling leather about the size of a billfold back for around $7.00, or an 8x10 piece for around $15.00.
Again if you're cheap, like me, you can find a bag of leather remnants for $5.00.  I've used some of those for years.

   I agree with friend PitCarver.  A pocket slip is ridiculously easy to make.  Don't even need a machine to sew them together.  Best wishes.  Gary (IMR)

Not terribly crafty, but I can sew a button back on a shirt.  I should be able to make something like that, and that’s pretty much what I’m looking for. Maybe a trip to Hobby Lobby is in my future.

Hobby Lobby is too dangerous but I need to go soon to pick up some shelf supports for my office.  Who knows what else will "accidentally" end up in the basket.  :facepalm:

Making your own is probably the best way to go. Leather is an ideal material, and I've also heard of pouches being made of denim. If denim works okay (I might just cobble up a pouch out of old jeans I have laying around), canvas could be another viable option.

   You might scrounge around in a place like Dollar Tree and find some little vinyl thing that will work for you.  Look through the ladies' section where they stock little purse carry items.  Best wishes.  G

All seriousness though, it's an easy project, but be aware that there is an addiction aspect here.

I do have some old jeans that I can't patch anymore.  I might try making some slips out of that.  I could then wax the denim to make it a little more resistant.   Hmm... :think:

I've made pouches out of canvas pouches that I just folded in half and painted with black spray paint.  Haven't worn it out yet.

Garage sales and thrift stores are a good source of leather purses or belts for making pouches and sheaths.  Purses you'll have to cut into strips.  Belts you just cut as long a piece as you need, fold over, punch holes, and sew. :salute:

I was thinking of leather belts for a strop but using it to make slips is a great idea.

I started making leather slips and sheaths It's a lot of fun. A ten-dollar piece of leather from Amazon will make a lot of knife slips.
I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

Although I made this one from 2" nylon webbing for a 91mm (Huntsman), it can be made for a 74mm. The one with the tool has a belt clip, but I made the one of the left with belt loop (cardboard for demo. only!). Quite easy and quick to make.  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Not really, as  I only sealed the edges, because I used a soldering iron to cut the webbing. The webbing is doubled, having the ends at the bottom of the sheath; I ran a regular stitch along the edges, from top of flap to bottom of sheath. You could try heat sealing/welding but, my only concern would be about durability as my experience has been that once heat sealed, the area/weld becomes brittle and cracks. Got in the tooled leather purse yesterday.  Haven't even got it out of the bag yet.  I'll post a picture of it, as received and another of the leather pieces that it yielded.

I know, I know... I'm over complicating things.  I thought it would be pretty cool to try and use the watch pocket of some old jeans I have.  I'm going to think about it some more as I have a couple of ideas.  I don't think I have a SAK wide enough to fit snugly in it though.

While this isn't a 74mm Vic it's approximately 76mm and it's my first time making a leather pouch by hand.  I could only work on it for 30 min every other day so it took me a bit.  It also didn't help that my eyesight isn't what it used to be.  Still had fun making this pouch for this little Klein.
