Making some pasta today was no joke.  Probably walk to the mailbox about 3 o'clock or so unless it is hot enough to melt lead.  No, I didn't eat with the little white Bijou.  Best wishes.  G

Day 10: Spartan, Swisstool, and Serrated Saturday!

I don’t know if serrated Saturday was ever a thing. If not, it should be!

Carrying these two today.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

We were out most of the day and the Spirit stayed in the car.  The Spartan served its weekend moniker job by being a good weekend BBQ knife cutting up watermelon and hot dogs for the kids.

Deciding whether to fill the oil tank or wait a couple more weeks hoping the price doesn’t increase.
I assume you're talking about heating oil? If so, I'd just do it now. Natural gas will likely see a price increase as the weather turns cooler. :twak:

Anyone care to guess what the cube is?
Some sort of charging apparatus?

Moving a family member today!
What sort of Jeep are you driving?

I've been abroad for the past few days (work stuff  ::))...
Stay safe, my friend!

Now the ST300  and I are off to fix a toilet seat.
I'll spare you the obvious joke. :)

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 10
Spartan Saturday

This Spartan is a safe queen. It doesn't even get handled much for fear that the print will wear away.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I had plans to create a new daily thread, but between Grand_Banana's Serrated Saturday suggestion and Gary's plan to unveil a new Saturday thread, I'll shelve those plans for now.

The white cube in the photo is lip balm.  In the hardest to open container devised by man.  It is Chinese in origin (what else is new) and is largely bees wax.  I have used it to keep my Opinel from getting hard to open.  Working a little into the joint has worked pretty well so far.  Best wishes.  G

Oil indeed.  We have oil furnace for hot water and radiator.  The winter preorder contracts are pricier this year than last… we’re spending 60¢ more a gallon and we bought the same time as last year.  Adds up!

Do we think serrated Saturday would be popular?  Mine just happened to line up… I wonder what Gary has planned it may be more fun

I never would have guessed! I did find some beeswax lip balm to use for Opinel lubrication.

Do we think serrated Saturday would be popular?
It just might. Start it up and see what happens!

Spartan Saturday

This old Spartan is pretty much retired now, but served me well for a number of years when it was my only SAK.

Day 10 : Spartan Saturday

Strangely enough, I don't have as many Spartan's as I thought I did.  Sounds to me like I need to remedy that.  :D

Day 11
Ice Cream Sunday

Might as well do Ice Cream Sunday one time.  The original didn't really have anything to do with ice cream consumption.  Rather it was a kick back and relax sort of thread.  Indulge yourself with something and display some sort of toolophilic object.
What better way to indulge than some chocolate ice cream?  And an Opinel.  I do know it is bad grammar to start a sentence with 'and'.  This site is already on the grammar (and spelling) watch list anyway.  Best wishes.  G

I did promise to tell everyone about my latest mailbox adventure and whether or not I had to battle the legions of the undead.  Led by the still unseen Ms.  Phoenix.
Truth is, it was too stinkin hot to walk down to the mailbox yesterday.  I could have walked down after dark when it finally cooled off a few degrees.  And subjected myself to hoards of bloodsuckers.  Mostly of the small, winged variety.  Or faced the possibility of the tiring exertion of screaming and running from a black bear.
What did I do?  I watched an intolerably long Russian WW2 epic.  Rowdy, rule-breaking boy from country falls in love with beautiful nurse.  Both die heroically from enemy grenades (with 2 minute fuses) as he saves rodina from falling by shooting last 45mm straight down the barrel of 75mm enemy tank with his last heroic breath.
It's nice and cool this morning, so I don't have the heat excuse anymore.  I plan on having breakfast.  Then I will walk down the long rustic wildcat and possibly Werecoyote infested driveway to the mailbox.  I wish I had beautiful blue-eyed nurse to gaze lovingly at me before...... whatever?  But you have to play the cards you are dealt.  There is always the possibility that the postal service DIDN'T actually put Ms. Phoenix's suspicious package back in my mailbox again.  Or maybe the mailbox terrorists could have decided to pull up my correspondence receptacle by the roots and toss the entire mess over the bank into the Cullasaja River.  With or without any package inside.
I will do an update later.  Best wishes.  G

I just got back from my jaunt to the mailbox.  Sometimes a thing that you have built up as a big event makes a big splash.  Other times it just makes a thud in the bottom of the bowl.  So to speak.
I took along my pole trimmer.  Good walking stick.  Nice for trimming back some plant growth.  Also good for spreading around a little pain to a rabid fox that is trying to gnaw its way through a cheap knockoff LL Bean boot.  An envelope was in my mailbox with my SDHC card adaptor for my compooter.  (Yay!)  And no package for the mysterious and possibly nonexistent Ms. Phoenix.  (Yay, again!)  So I am safe from confronting Ms Phoenix at least until the mail delivers on Monday.  Saint, sinner, succubus, pseudonym.  Whatever she or it is.  Best wishes.  G

I've been trying (and mostly failing) to keep up whilst working abroad   :bnghd: :crash:

You're doing awlfully well with your posts  :salute:

I'm back home for 48 hours or so but, even though Mrs Surge is away on her annual EU tour (with her mum, sister et al) she left a request instruction that I adjust a piece of trellis  :twak:

I told her I'd not be ordered about on what little time I have off - after I'd done it (it's not my first rodeo)

Here's the Skele (for Sunday)

Day 11: See Through Sunday

Got this Rescue Climber Plus from a modder on ebay. Adds a 4th layer with a rescue cutter, small inline flat driver, and back side chisel. A very reasonable add on to the awlready capable Climber toolset.

I'll show my mini Gladiator soon.

Shouldn't be too hard. There are usually at least a few cheap Spartans on eBay. :tu:

I'm doing Sportsman today...

Or maybe the mailbox terrorists could have decided to pull up my correspondence receptacle by the roots and toss the entire mess over the bank into the Cullasaja River.
I've never heard "correspondence receptacle" before. :like: Mine can't be easily tossed into a river, as it's a slot cut into the front door.

Another great day, y'awl! And add the Skele to the long list of tools I should try out... :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
Day 11
Ice Cream Sunday

A slight variation on the photo I posted in the relevant daily thread, mostly because I didn't want the other Alox Bantams to feel too neglected. :)
