I haven't done a friendly neighborhood critter photo in a while.  Might as well post one of three furbearers eating some slightly moldy bread.  Best wishes.  G

The Gas Hopper is a really neat OPT! :tu:

  FX

I found it at a flea market some years ago for the princely sum of $1.

Apparently it dates from the late ‘70s or early ‘80s.  It claims five functions:  bottle opener, can opener, key ring, screwdriver, and gas nozzle holder (i.e. could be jammed in the grip to keep the dispensing handle up at a time before the little flip down tabs became common).

Day 30: Flashlight Friday!

This has been one of my favorite challenges so far. It’s fun to switch it up and carry stuff you normally dont.

I figured my oldest knife was a fitting throwback.
:iagree:

I felt like I ran out of time today and that I didn't have enough of my go-go juice.
That's easily fixed: brew another pot. :D

Best wishes to all who labored mightily in this late summer Rotation challenge.  I will see some of you in the Delemont.
Congratulations on completing the challenge, and see you in the Delémont challenge!

Money well spent, especially if it was still in the package! And the Gas Hopper name makes sense after reading your write-up. :hatsoff:

:iagree: Thank you for joining in!

Thanks for a fun challenge, all!
:salute:

This is the point where I typically give feedback on a tool. But this isn't the sort of challenge that's conducive to feedback on a specific tool or feature. Instead, this one is all about having a good time and carrying what you like. I enjoyed seeing what y'awl decided to carry, reading and engaging in the banter, and especially seeing threads that had lain dormant for year get new life breathed into them.

Thanks to awl for making this a most excellent challenge, and don't forget to request your badges!

Day 30
Four-Layer Friday

It seems fitting that I would choose the eponymous SAK for the final official post. The Lego farmer lady and her chickens seem to like it as well.

I'll have a bonus for tomorrow, and I will host this challenge again sometime!

Greetings awl  :waving:

I was supposed to be abroad (yesterday) but that didn't happen  :dunno:

So, with that in mind, I thought I'd show some support and thank FX for hosting this challenge  :salute:

Here's one of my favourite UK friendly EDC things (awlso it orange  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh)

Well done everybody and I hope to see you on a challenge soon (UK Gov' permitting  ::))

 :woohoo:
Fixed Blade Friday with a par of tiny knives... SwissCards!

Vic Quatro next to the Wenger.
The Quatro was an EDC item for years until it started to crack apart and couldn't hold it's tools in anymore, now it lives in the display case.

The Wenger from what other MTO Members have told me was an outsourced product they gave away as a promotional w/ other non-SAK products. They are completely unlabeled with no brand markings or fancy packaging, and the distinctive feature is a stainless "mirror" w/engraving on the other side.

Edit:
Idea just popped in my mind:
What if the mirror isn't a mirror but rather an engravable surface for monogram as a fancy luggage tag travel tool?

Day 30: Four Layer

Never saw that Wenger-Card. Cool find.

I'm rounding things out with a Rainier AKA serrated Huntsman. It's a shame Vic has standardized to only the plain-edge drop point for most of the line. With two blades on most of the 91s (and a few of the 84s) it'd be nice to have some options. After carrying PBMTs and trad folders with varied blades I've learned to really appreciate having a serrated blade and a plain-edge or a clip and a sheepsfoot or whatever.

Thanks for the host, FarmerX! I think you're hosting the Delemont next month as well, so I'll see you over there.

:like: And if awl goes well, I'll be able to justify the purchase of a black oxide ST300 before too long! (Yes, I know Steve showed a Rebar, which would be somewhat easier to justify.)

I should revisit the SwissCard someday. It may well prove to be an effective little pocket carry!

:iagree: Now that I think about it, long plain and fully serrated blades hinged at opposite ends would be pretty cool. And you are correct; I'll be hosting the Delémont challenge next month. :hatsoff:

@SurgeUK - That's a good looking Vulpis.  I've been considering one.

@Noa Isumi - Never seen the Wenger card either.  Pretty cool.

Day 30 : Fixed Blade Friday

I was going to go with my Four Layer Friday till I noticed that I hadn't posted anything for Fixed Blade Friday.  I needed to correct that oversight.  These aren't anything fancy but I like them and some are sentimental.

From top to bottom: Ridge Runner, Kershaw Bear Hunter 2, Unknown (but I suspect it's one of those Pakistan knives), Camillus 1013.

This was fun y'awl.  Thanks for hosting Farmer X and I'm looking forward to the next challenge.

Swiza Saturday

Yes, Swiza Saturday is a thing now. We'll see how much traction it gains. I got this orangey-red one in the trade with BPRoberts. :hatsoff: So far, I like it. That awl gives the 93mm awl a good run for its money!

Day 31 : Sad SAK Saturday

I'll readily admit, that this one isn't as sad as the others I've posted.  However, being that it's an executive (and they are in short supply) I find it extremely saddening to see it in this condition.  Though it does look like the previous owner tried to rectify the travesty by reshaping the orange peeler.  The complete specimen is above and the atrocity is below.

Yes, I understand I may be nitpicking...

I didn’t get the bonus day 31 done, sorry fellas! At least got a solid 30. Heres a random bonus pic. Have had a very minimal carry here at the campground (more like a resort) the last couple of days.

Probably accidentally broke the tip off the orange peeler, then went from there.

Maybe. But I do believe that Executive is salvageable. :tu:

Though nice to see, they weren't a requirement. Hope your camping trip has been enjoyable!

:iagree: Seems likely. I wonder if Victorinox USA has any on hand for warranty claims and repairs.
