New Swiss Acquisitions-Alox and more
on: February 13, 2009, 05:11:59 AM
Found some nice 74mm size Victorinox SAK's, one of my favorite size of knife. They are a Stainless Steel Prince, a Red Alox Cavalier, and a red "Hoffritz" tang stamped Victorinox Cavalier. This one has solid red scales. I have a tidy "Hoffritz" collection going now. I will have to get a photo of them together some time.

I also picked up a SwissChamp XLT. I have been wanting a large knife and really do not care much for the electronic scales on the XAVT and all the duplication of tools as well. This was used but in like new condition and I got a great deal! There are several photos in the album so click on the photo to see them.

I know some people call that model the Cavalier (I've been guilty) and I'm not sure where that originally came from but they're officially called Escorts just like the similar configured 58mm model.  Don't you just love Victorinox naming conventions  :ahhh

I only have the one and picking up more is high on my agenda.

I'm finally back down to one XLT :)  Due to a trade that didn't happen I ended up having two for a couple of months, that was excessive even for me :D  Then again for a brief period this year I also had two XAVTs!

Thanks for adding that note there Def. I know the naming to some Victorinox models is supposition at best in some cases. I wish they would have just kept a single model worldwide number for everything. Oh well! :think:

Now here is one I have been looking for awhile now. Its a European only model similar to the soft touch series but it has slightly less tacky scales. It is called "Tactile" and has Neoprene scales and the hard to find clip point main blade. It feels nice in the hand. The coloration appears to be some kind of random pour pattern with blue and black being the primary colors. I have not seen this knife in any other color and only this one model as well. Here are a few photos;

I really like that Tactile too. Both the scales and the clip point look great.  :tu:

Too bad it's not more widely available. I think it would sell very well elsewhere...

Interesting. I'm hoping to pick up one of the evogrip 85mm knives soon - 18 I think. I like the ideas of tactile grips on things, especially with my hands being a tad useless on rheumatic days!

Lovely collection of things you have there.... care to reveal your sources?!  :D
