Survey request from Victorinox
on: August 06, 2024, 10:56:44 AM
Hello all,

I recieved a message from someone I've been dealing with at Victorinox and they have asked me to share this survey link with all of you.

https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=JfrjMEn0RUyN_SSzwlDNKPQAkPxCDVFPpdwa2KGi1opUMzcxTjk2RDBXUVBKNE82RVpIUkw2OFlERS4u

If you all have few moments to take this survey, I am sure they would appreciate it.  So much so they are offering a prize.

Quote
As a token of our appreciation, all survey participants have the chance to win one of 5 exclusive Winter Magic Limited Edition knives

I've already done it, now it is your turn!

In like Flynn!

From the looks of the survey, it looks like Victorinox my be considering making their knives more modular, pretty cool

Interesting survey.  Could make modding a whole lot simpler :).  Wenger historically had a lot more quirky functions than Victorinox i think.  I wonder if it would be based on their tool set.

Encouraging to hear that Victorinox cares about feedback from MTO. I requested the two opener layer across from the inline phillips. I think Monorouge put one together like that at one point.

The Compact is indeed a fine training SAK to carry while developing the skill set to use the Yeoman.   :tu:   :D

Done  :salute:

I requested the build your own option (and the modular thing)

More inline phillips drivers and LOTS more Alox in MANY, MANY different colours.

I suspect none of my wishes will materialise  ::)

That said, you don't ask, you don't get  :dunno:
They don't like it up 'em!

Modularity doesn't really interest me.  For me the Ultimate SAK would be one you could order to your specs from Victorinox.  I have always assumed that Victorinox would never do this, because it would cannibalize sales, the way that Glock has refused to make an OEM 15 round magazine for the G43X because it would mostly kill the G19.

 :iagree:
A build your own SAK would be more interesting than a modable SAK for me aswell. I think i would be overwhelmed by the options tho 👀 i would probably build something thats really similar to a swisschamp only changing out a couple tools.

I answered in a similar manner. Configuring the toolset would be awesome, but I don't need to change it myself on a regular basis. It would be sufficient if one could swap out or add tools once the knife is in for a service at Victorinox.

The key challenge with such individual knives is to have a fully automatic process from the online configuration to assembly machines and to the locistics process. Otherwise these knives would be so expensive compared to their regular production counterparts that I would not buy one. I'd be willing to pay a certain markup (for example to have my huntsman with a small nail file instead of the small blade), but I wouldn't pay double the price. Depending on the modification maybe 20-50 percent more.

I'm really curious where Victorinox is going with this and if we will ever see it!

I think it would be neat to have a torx/pivot setup. User disassembly is nice not only for customization but for maintenance and the tool being self sufficient without being sent back to the factory for issues.

Maybe we will. At this point, I think they're most likely testing the waters.

I, too, have completed the survey. Hopefully the Winter Magic for this year is a good one!

...........
I'm really curious where Victorinox is going with this and if we will ever see it!

Yeah Luke absolutely
It seems like a good idea when you first hear about it ..... and folk here have been asking for this for ages

But will it really be cost effective?   ???
And will the demand really be there if they do it, given the potential cost?   ???
And will the current range stay there for the low cost alternative for people who just want a simple model?   ???

Vic have withdrawn dozens of models over the last 40 years or so - Presumably coz sales are low for the withdrawn models
Yet they still have a pretty reasonable range with a pretty wide selection and the costs are so reasonable for what you get!

I may be unpopular - But I am wondering if it is really worth it!!

.... However I did full in the survey and said yes do it!! But mainly coz I know you guys want it.    :climber:
- But for me I am pretty happy with the current range!!    :o

Although the bladeless product range that Vic is investigating seems to be a much more worthy direction
