XLT coming in!!

 :mail:  :climber:
I got this SwissChamp XLT on the way. The SC is my favourite sak but the one i own has become way to important for me so i fear loosing it to the local authorities.. Ive never seen one in white and we will se how i feel about it. I might change the scales for the classic red ones.

Those scales make a difference.

The XLT is now discontinued and seems harder and harder to get.

My main SAK is an XLT, btw.

Yeaah... seems a bit odd the way the discontinue some models but keep others.. i feel i was lucky to find this one second hand in my own country  :ahhh

And thats awesome!! The XLT will become my main SAK aswell so i can retire my beloved SwissChamp and keep it safe at home 😁

How long have you had yours??

How much did you pay for it?

Have it since the end of 2017.

It's well used but still almost looks like new.

The Swiss Champ itself is very capable. Adding the bit driver is the logical step.

I won an auction for 1900 swedish kronor.

Ooh yeah i bet yours is still looking like new. Ive had my SwissChamp since 2001 and besides som dirt between the layers it also looks like new. Victorinox sure makes tools that last for generations!!

And right?! I was on the brink on getting a CyberTool 41 instead but then i remembered the XLT is basically a SwissChamp and a CyberTool combined, plus some. I cant wait for it to arrive in the mail!!

Wow - I know you love your SC - I guess it has great sentimental value - But if I was you I would be keeping the XLT safe at home - As those models are very hard to come by now (and were always pretty expensive too)
Maybe get a new regular SC as well and use that as an EDC     ???     :o

Yeaah... seems a bit odd the way the discontinue some models but keep others.. i feel i was lucky to find this one second hand in my own country  :ahhh

Yep - Some of the models they retire just do not seem to make sense     >:(
As sad as I am about the XAVT/Traveller being retiured - I get it    ...... With smartphones/watches no-one needs a watch, timer, altimeter etc etc in a SAK

But the XLT and others I don't get it - I think manufacturing costs are higher - Maybe this one has to be hand assembled
But just uses existing tools .... So please keep it Vic

Haha damn youre right!! I should probably get myself another SC or maybe a Cybertool 41. Or both  The XLT just seems like the perfect SAK if you just want to carry one thing to solve the largest amount of possible problems.. im almost positive that the local authorities wouldnt be able to consider it a weapon..  :police:

Im sure there must be some truth in that manufacturing costs were to high compared to the income of selling those knives. Maybe even hand assembled like you said, beeing so thick they might not fit in their machines or something 🤷‍♂️ its a bit sad.. but with the new survey Def shared last week im hopefull we will be able to assemble our own combination of tools on a SAK soon, fingers crossed 🤞🙃🤞

Congrats! It is a great MT. I will likely try to add a backup at some point as you can still find them in the US, but not cheap. I keep trying to land the mega SAK with both bit drivers, but the prices are way too high.

Some years ago the XLT were very cheap on Amazon. Got them for not more than about 120 Euros each. Now they're surely worth more. One is an old design with old file, thicker main blade and some other differences from the later ones.

Keeping the unused ones in storage.

One XLT and one XXL are alternating in EDC at the moment.

Love that youre alternating between two of the biggest SAK as EDC! Youre the type that will be prepared for everything  :SAKnight: :viking:

Even when the zombie apocalypse hits. Even the XXL is usable. You get a Byte of bits (8 double sided ones). The advantage of two bit drivers is: One for each direction.

Sometimes I also EDC a Swisstool Spirit, a CT L, a Swiss Champ or a Minichamp alox.

You know I had always wondered why that extra driver was there - Now I know
Off to the hardware store now to double up on all my regular screwdrivers

Never mention the four XLT, but you honestly tell us you got two XXL, one for EDC and one as a spare? That's crazy, even by the standards of this forum! I love it! :hatsoff:

Cheers,

Simon

Looks great! Congrats!!!

 :like: :like:

Man...I think 4 XLTs and 2 XXLs would be amazing! I have found I have started buying back-ups of tools I really enjoy to keep one set pristine and have a user that I do not need to feel bad about using. I know it is an issue with OCD....but I prefer to think of it as maximizing my EDC instead.
