Looks great! Congrats!!!

 :like: :like:

Man...I think 4 XLTs and 2 XXLs would be amazing! I have found I have started buying back-ups of tools I really enjoy to keep one set pristine and have a user that I do not need to feel bad about using. I know it is an issue with OCD....but I prefer to think of it as maximizing my EDC instead.

Naaah i completely understand!! I would also like to have one spare for my favourite tools. The reason i got the XLT was because i wanted a backup for my swisschamp 😅 but i still need another swisschamp and now i also need another XLT  :drink:

Yeah. Backups are very important. Also a backup for the backup.  :multi:

Have you used it already?

:iagree: It sure does look good! And I awlso like having multiples of some tools. That can get kinda expensive, though.

Looking for some second opinions. When i got the XLT i noticed this little fracture in the scales and ordered a pair of new white ones. But now im wondering if i should put the new ones on or if i should keep using the old ones until they break completely. Ive tried to pull on the fracture to see how fragile it is and it seems to hold up and wont come off for some time.
What would you do? Put on the new ones right away or keep the new ones for when theyre really needed?

Save the new scales.  That fracture appears minor and shouldn't interfere with your use.  Just monitor it to make sure it doesn't get worse.

Since you already have the new ones coming, I would put them on when they arrive.  Keep the old cracked set for a spare or something.  No sense in looking at that crack every time you pick it up when you have new scales.  Best wishes.  G

Thats a really good point!! And keeping the cracked ones for spare is a great idea.  :2tu:

I would actually agree if i would have caused the crack 🤔 i do like that things get scratches and patina with time but getting it like this felt more like getting "broken" scales even tho they would probably hold up for a long time without actually falling apart.

For those of you who are following along my little XLT journey. I decided to put on the new scales and save the cracked ones as spares. As suggested by IMR  :salute:
Im glad i did!! These look beautiful and its gonna be a whole new journey watching them get dinged and scratched with time  :D

White is one of my favorite scale colors.

I was actually super scheptical when i bought it 👀 i wanted an XLT so the color didnt matter. At first look i didnt like the white scales at all since all my SAKs have been red so it felt wrong having a white one. I had almost decided to change the scales to red ones right away.. But as soon as i got it in my hands it was love at first sight!!
Now i can agree with you!! White scales on a SAK are beautiful!

Well I gotta disagree w this plan  :(    >:(

Of course it looks amazing ATM - And if it was to be a shelf queen ..... exactly the right approach

But this SAK is a user .... Correct?  ???
So these scales are gonna get bashed and scratched anyway - And white does not weather the scratches well
Also a crack like that will not affect usage - as Alan K says
So IMHO keep using the used scales
And  keep the new ones pristine ready for replacement or for your shelf queen one day    :pok:     :climber:

Imagine yourself in a few months time with your current plan:
The new scales  are worn and scratched .... and maybe you do drop it and crack the scales
So what do you do ?   ???  Replace the cracked scales w cracked scales          :o

Thanks for your input Huntsman! And i get where youre coming from but having that crack there when i got the knife was what bothered me the most. It didnt affect usage but it did kinda affect my enjoyment of the knife. It would have been different if i had caused the crack since it would just be another "battle scar" from use. But again, getting the knife with the crack kinda bothered med.. Like IMR said, no need to see that crack everytime i use it if i have new scales to replace with.
And like i mentioned earlier i can appreciate that things get scratched and dinged with time so thats not an issue. And i have never dropped one of my knives before, keeping in mind ive had a swisschamp for over 20 years. But yeaah i dont know what ill do with the old scales honestly, i dont think they will be spares since they are cracked. If the new scales ever get cracked i would probably get new scales depending on the crack once again.

Best wishes
