Day 7

I used the wire stripper today! (I think it's a first for me.) First, lightly close the wire in the knife and rotate to cut through the insulation.

Then slide it off with the notch on the cap lifter.

  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Then make a student taking electrical shop rebraid the wire. It worked!

It really does!  I had a chance to use mine a number of years back while out with my Climber.  Great job!

@Marlowe221: I love the drawing!

@Echotech: looks like a good opportunity for saw usage!

@Fireman: you're probably gonna have me on the hunt for yellow 84mm/91mm scales...

@Barry Rowland: how fast was your wind? Mine gusted up to 35-45.

@BPRoberts: I've used the wire stripper a time or two. It seems to work best with 16 or 14-gauge.

@MTSAK: I have a book that'll get that way sooner or later if I'm not careful.

@GA1dad: what were you staining?

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 7

Bluegrass is giving the Hiker his tacit approval.

Day 8

Quiet Saturday, Janet went up the shops and got us both a banh mi :drool: roll from the Vietnamese bakery. They’re a bit of a national obsession in Australia, with fan groups etc

Hiker not actually involved but should have used it to cut open the bag

@Echotech: Vietnamese food and a hike...I'm envious!

@Fireman: those little ratchets are pretty handy. I miss mine.

@Barry Rowland: is that coffee chocolate cereal?

@BPRoberts: for a second, I thought you were gonna show a firearm!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 8

Inspired by Marlowe221's Day 3 post, here's my Hiker with my "off-duty" G-Shock. It's a GD-400-1.

Day 8:
Sat by the fire pit this evening and worked on my first "try stick." If you frequent any bushcraft forums, you may know what this is. If not, you just take a stick and make various cuts in it that you may find helpful in bushcraft situations. I've still got a few more to do but it was getting late too dark to see well.

March 30 Day Hiker Challenge
Day 8 of 30

I have a BBQ cookoff next weekend and am starting to get everything ready. My old food warming box I built several years ago was looking pretty rough, so I touched up the stain a little bit.
