Buck Challenge - January 2025
on: September 19, 2024, 05:22:07 AM
Anyone interested in a Buck knife Challenge 30 Day Challenge?
If so how about December?  If not maybe January or February?

I know there are Buck 110 and 112 challenges, but what about the other Buck goodness - traditional, fix blade, SwissBucks, etc.  Let’s give a chance for all that goodness to be showcase.

Standard rules apply:
- Carry at least one Buck knife daily as your first option, but can carry other tools/knives to supplement as needed.
-  Take a picture of your knife (in use or glamour shot) and post it daily for 30 days

I am a fan of Buck Knives! Will probably join this one. Is there a badge that would apply?

Let me think?  Buck knife?  Buck knife.  Yeah, I have a nice one.  Let me see if I can find it.....?  Here it is.  I found the original box for it along with the papers and a pink note from Chuck Buck himself.  Pretty, right?  Right?  Genuine Buck here.  Real thing.  Buck.  I can do the challenge, right?  Okay, it's a Rough Rider.  I think I will leave now.  G

There is a glorious utility knife Challenge in December, if that affects the timing of this one yo.   :salute:

There isn’t currently a badge, but if enough people participate one will be created

As powernoodle pointed out, the Utility Knife Challenge is on for December. That could make for some bad timing. I might participate if the challenge is moved to January 2025.

I'm definitely up for this. When I was a kid, my scout master was a diehard Buck fan, so I grew up thinking the only two knife makers in the world that mattered were Buck and Victorinox. Winning a Buck 55 from a scout competition is a cherished childhood memory, though that knife is long since lost to time. I might pick up a 110 and 55 for nostalgia's sake, but I'm also very curious to see what the company's been up to in more recent years.

I still don't have a Buck, but since some members are wondering about a badge..... wouldn't the Buck User badge on page two of the awards list apply?  Best wishes.  G

Yes, the Buck user badge would be one that could be requested even if we don’t get enough for a new Challenge badge.

There could be plenty of time to find a Buck.  They have a pretty good selection.

Definitely an option

I used to like Bucks.  My pal Bruce back in high school would always carry a big Buck stockman.  He couldn't sharpen a knife for shucks, but his cousin Daniel could.  At morning break, he would take out his razor sharp Buck and pull a hair out of his head.  Then he would do a little chop with the Buck and pop the hair in two.  Unfortunately, he had really short hair, so one day he decided to do his trick and did his little chop on his finger.  His fingernail or maybe the bone stopped the blade fortunately before it made its way through his digit, so all he got was some blood all over his nice Buck.  I don't remember him doing any more exhibitions after that.  Knife carry was de rigueur when I was in school.  Bloodletting was frowned on.  Best wishes.  G

I'm on the utility challenge w/ Dan in December. Might be down to give January a try, depending on what else comes up.

I held off answering because I was sure somebody would post a photo of one.  If someone is bad but looks nice they are often called "A wolf in sheep's clothing".  A SwissBuck is a Wenger in Buck's clothing.  I am certain someone who has one will post a nice photo for you to see.  Best wishes.  G
