Day 17

Another opening project.  A new bottle of vanilla flavoring.  Never used this brand before. So it is a bit of a test.

Clip point blade slices nicely.

File touched up nails made ragged by blade nicks!

And, the AWL opened a set of markers!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The 501 Squire is a great pocket carry for anyone who wants a lock back but doesn’t need the blade length of the 110.

This dealer SFO features micarta slabs, nickel silver bolsters, and S35VN steel…

Day 17

Alright, now that I have some time, a few more details about yesterdays knife. The 825 (along with it's less cool sisters the 825 and 827) was made as a fundraiser to help with the restoration of the Statue of Liberty in the 80s. They're all based on the 505 Knight (3.75" closed, 1.88" blade). The little copper medallion is from Lady Liberty herself when they were doing restoration work. The certificate is "signed" by Lee Iaccoca, an executive at Ford and Chrysler that Ronnie tapped to head the restoration. My wife went to events at Iaccoca hall, and I've eaten at his family's restaurant (Yocco's Hotdogs). Small world, I guess. The medallion is pretty cool on its own, but everything's better when you attach it to a knife, right? The back has the campaign's slogan, "Keep the torch lit."

Used the Buck 151 to trim up some pork chops today. Got it oiled back up after a good cleaning.

@Alan K. - thanks!

Day 17

I used Vantage Pro in the kitchen however I realized it is too hefty and the blade is too thick for this type of use. I will switch for different Buck for the weekend.

Not sure about UK prices, but here in the US I would say that Buck’s Slim Select series and LT series are among the least expensive US-made knives available.

Of course, we all pretty much hope to stumble upon great deals on second-hand unused or lightly used knives, but sometimes those materialize and sometimes they don’t.

Day 18

Buck 301 today while roaming the local flea market.

Bought these two knives for a couple bucks each. The one is an old queen the other a Buck 703. Unfortunately the Buck has a broken spring, so it'll just go in the pile of other broken bucks until I whenever I remember to send them off to Buck.

The 703 isn't made anymore, so I'm not sure what Buck will do when I send it in.  :dunno: maybe they have a stash of springs hiding somewhere.

It has been reported more than once the BUCK does not repair slip joints.
If a model is still available they will exchange for new.

If the model is no longer in production and there is no inventory, then they provide you a CREDIT that be applied to any new purchase.  I am guessing 40 to 50%.  Never heard of a $ limit.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!
