Original Wave Handle Play

I got an original Wave second hand today, and I noticed some vertical play in the handles when closed:

It doesn't have any when open. Is this:

1. common?

2. concerning?

3. something I can do anything about? Is there a screw I can tighten or anything?

Test,please ignore Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of  a Case knife  for 30 days Must start a thread with a photo of your birth year SAK Participate and post a pic of your vintage SAK (1986 or earlier) everyday for 30 days. Using EDC items randomly selected with a poker hand, post a photo of your EDC or a component of the EDC that got used during the course of the day for 4 weeks (or 30 consecutive days) Start a new thread and post a picture of fire making kit or fire with a multitool Start a new thread and post a photo of an Executive or Director for thirty (30) consecutive days. I have had mine since 98 and mine is the same way. I would say this is common. I know on the updated wave and wave plus you didn’t have this issue.

As Jones said, it is common on the Gen 1 :cheers: I am thinking both of the ones I have do this as well but are fine when opened :think: :salute:

Its pretty normal for gen1 Waves, all gen1 waves i had and used had handle play.
If it bothers you could add washers next to pliers, tho i wont guarentee it will work.

Thanks for checking in, guys. Glad to know it's ok. I cleaned it up yesterday (interior tools were pretty stuck, and the PE blade was "sharpened" so poorly it was almost serrated) and looking forward to giving it some carry.
