Day 26

Going to carry the Sideclip today.  Seems there were a lot of the Timberland logo'd ones issued.

Nice Sideclip, FoBe! :like: :tu: :tu:

While not the prettiest knife, the EKA Swede 38 is in my opinion one of the greats. Similar to Spyderco. It's purely function over form.

@VICMAN: :hatsoff: and the EKA is pretty cool!

@LoopCutter: safe travels!

@SubMY: I sent you a PM with my initial impressions, so as not to risk derailing this thread. And I like the Seiko! :tu:

@Barry Rowland: the PST, being pretty slim, would be excellent for that task!

Day 26

For this abbreviated check-in (as I have to package up something that's going to Barry), we're taking a look at the tools I have yet to use. Unfortunately, the fine screwdriver will probably stay in the unused camp.

Day 27
Can't believe this challenge is almost over. PST posed with Bond, both silver.

The OG PST is amazing as it is so compact and functional. Compared to the Surge, it lacks the outside opening tools and blades, bit exchanger saw file and scissors. But Surge is easily 1.5 to 2 times the size of it. Sure it does not have any locking in the tool as well. But it can get the occasional work done.

This OG PST was new without even a hairline scratch when I got it second hand from someone who seems to be a knife/multitool collector. Until I dropped it onto concrete one day, then I stop worrying about scratching it and put it to use. I have "overworked" the plier joint and it has become easy to get loose and one of the handle collapse when open.  And that seems can be "fixed" by tightening the screw once in a while. Bond is nice. But I like the less streamlined, more solid boxy outline of the PST, and the old plier head while seems to be less robust, looks more elegant and gets the job done. I think after this challenge I will keep carrying it.

:iagree:, Barry!

I have a fondness for the PST because I remember buying mine new in 1984 when no one I knew had any idea what a Leatherman PST was. It truly was revelutionary.

And I agree that it is just so nice to carry!

The PST is what I have in mind when Leatherman is mentioned. I was still a kid when I saw those catalogue / promotion / ads of Marlboro sponsored events with tough looking cars and men carrying the PST and that was stuck to my mind. And I wanted one at that time, but I only get it 30 years later.

I enjoyed hearing about your memories of the PST and I am glad you finally got one.

I know what it is like to wait for 30 years to get  particular knife or multitool.

OH NO!!!!! I'm so upset that I missed this challenge. I guess I haven't checked in for longer than I thought.

At least now I get to go through everything and see a bunch of PST goodness.
