Day 7

Actual use today - opening the packaging of a Smith & Wesson Vehicle Survival Tool I bought my wife for Christmas.

It’s a handy little thing. Main reason I got it her is for the glass breaker and belt cutter in case she ever needs them in an accident, but the fact that it doubles as a USB charger means it’ll actually get used, and she should always remember where it is in an emergency.

Nice gift and pic, Crunchie! :like: :tu: :tu:

On the subject of blade shapes, here is the updated Bond blade compared to an Arc's blade.  I really like this blade shape - it's like a drop point blade with a hint of sheepsfoot.   :like:

I've not tried that. It looks like it may be a great package opener. The package opener is really the only tool I miss from my Spirit...

Day 7

Here is a glamour shot of the Bond at my desk. I have picked up a cold, so this may be the extent of my Bonding with the Bond for the day.

Take care,

Replaceable cutters ? Nice mod !

Thanks Frenchephaistos, I raided my parts stash soon after I got the Bond back in 2021. I had a Rebar that I had attempted to mod before getting the correct wrenches. I chewed up the pivot screws pretty bad using visegrips (a type of locking pliers). I chalk this up to a learning experience. So, in this current iteration I have the Rebar pliers, serrated blade, and saw installed. To install the saw, I removed the lanyard ring and reprofiled the upper part of the saw to be flush with the handle when open.

I wonder why my pics come out so huge.  I thought it was just on my screen only, but this shows that everyone is seeing the same thing.

You have to hit “insert attachment” next to your uploads. For example, here is the same photo twice. The first I will hit “insert attachment” and the second I will not.  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I own the OG Bond, but would slightly prefer the new blade shape - just for aesthetics.  The original blade does not always fully retain in the handle, but this is not problem (for me) because its an inside-opening tool.  I've pocket carried folders that don't properly retain the blade, and have cut the bleep out of myself when I reach into my pocket.  That is not groovy.  But because the Bond has inside-opening tools, the OG blade is fine for pocket carry.  IMO.

It does well Kev.  It also saves the blade if you're doing a bunch of boxes.
