Well done Kaevin!  SOG has always been good about user friendly tools.
(make up) Day 2
Taken it apart after flushing. Lube with greese and wiped with mineral oil. I really like how easy it is to take it apart as well as adjusting how tight or loose the joints are with the screw.

I had some fun with the BO Powerlock again today.  I live in a rural area about 20 minutes from Penn State University.  Lately, we've been getting a lot of wind along with 6rain, resulting in downed power lines.  My wife and I are pretty resourceful people, and have no shortage of camping gear, but there's times when the food we have on hand just doesn't work well with a propane camp stove (granted, not much!). We picked up some MREs to have on hand should we lose power beyond 24 hours.  It's been years since I had one, so I opened up a chili version and had some fun!  The stainless Powerlock provided scissors support  :D .

Day 3
Peeling an apple with the combo blade as breakfast. First time to use a combo blade for this. Gets the job done nevertheless.

Great pic and use Kaevin!  I agree, it's plenty sharp and long enough for kitchen use.

Day 4 (make up)

My princess requested a fix for her precious diy keychain. The really small tip really helped to get the job done.

Well done everyone!  My last pair of Powerlocks were Lynwood made.  I spent the majority of my time in the army at Fort Lewis, so that made them all the better to me!

I am new to SOG MT, how to tell if it is Lynwood made or made else where? My P3 has stamped Lynwood on the handle but the box has a label saying it's made in Taiwan.

Jaun, please join us for the SOG Power challenge. You're only a few days behind

Day 06
The PowerDuo with tools splayed out.  You have a one hand opening knife, a Phillips driver, a bottle opener with big flat blade driver and a can opener with micro flat blade driver and then there are the pliers.

And the Plier head looks tough enough for most jobs. :like:

Day 5 (make up)

I am very much drawn by the styling of the PST and pocket power plier. Simple straight outlines.

Comparing the two they have similar size and length. The PST has more tools (more sizes for slotted drivers). The PPP has a more pointed plier tip and is not symmetric.

I have read people has been swapping out the plastic washer for more tools. I wonder what can be fitted.

I would say that yours were made in Lynnwood, Kaevin.
I'm in the process of learning SOG history myself.  I don't believe that they moved production to Taiwan or China until the later Powerlock days.

I like that too.  Nothing beyond what is needed.

Early vs late locks.  Any preference?  I understand simplifying for production, but I've found the older version seems to lock in better.

They're fun Dan!  I really only have experience with the Powerlock, which is like taking a time machine back to the Multitool world of the late 90s.  They're user friendly and a bit larger than a Super Tool, but not by a whole lot.

I'm finding no covers not bad at all.  I like having them, though, for keeping debris out.

Barry, I remain a proponent of the simplicity and reliability of having as few moving parts as possible, so I prefer fixed blade knives and the single lock tab.  The only implement that I have trouble locking open is the scissors.  Sometimes I have to push down on the lock to get it to engage.  Despite that one issue I prefer the single lock tab because when unlocking an outer implement, you have to make sure to press that particular "piano key" where-as the one-piece lock tab is much more forgiving as to what angle you press it from.  Also, just for fun, I'd like to point out once again that my silver PowerLock is missing a vent hole. :D

Thanks for an interesting thread everyone. :tu: It is very enlightening to follow from the sideline. Apart from the Cross Cut, SOG is largely unknown territory to me. They are not too common here, I believe. They seem to be very awesome MT's, these.

Great, fun challenge/read everyone, lovin' it; kudos to all! :tu:

Kaevin, judging by your pictures, any small implement from a Powerlock or paratool, could fit next to the left of the phillips screwdriver, without hampering the pliers' retraction.

Barry, I also prefer the older/newer lock instead of the piano lock of the 2.0 series, as it is simpler to operate and, clumping (which is one thing the piano lock was used to mitigate) has never bothered me. The piano lock is also unforgiving when modifying a tool, as the implement HAS to be the same exact width of the key (or, like with the socket driver, match the width of exactly two keys) to work properly; thin washers needed for minute repositioning here!

Alan, love your "production error" PL! Is it also missing in the other handle?!

I forgot about the old lock version Juan!  I will say that the newer version is a lot simpler, which means less chance of anything going wrong.

Alan, that's a one in a thousand right there!  It's definitely a keeper  :tu:

Day 7 (make up)

First bite by the gear in the frame. Re-fixing a rail that isn't properly anchored. Previous installer drilled a hole too large and the hole was pointing downward as well. The sog help removing the plug. Fixed with a new plug and toothpick jammed into the hole to fix the "direction" and filling space/play.

My first Powerlock didn't have the guards over the gears, but I was lucky in that I didn't get bit.

Day 12

Took, a day trip yesterday to Whidbey Island. We took the ferry from Muklteo to Clinton first. Then drove to Coupeville for lunch. After lunch and a bit of wondering around, we headed over to Fort Casey. Fort Casey was once part of a grouping of Forts around Puget Sound that was used for coastal defense. It is now a well taken care of state park. There are two, deactivated guns at the fort. The original gun were removed and theses arrived from the Philipines sometime after WWII. One is placed in the up position and the other is in the retracted. If you look North of the park, you will see Admiralty Head Lighthouse. If you look south from the park across the sound towards Port Townsend you will see Fort Worden and the Point Wilson lighthouse.

I think the main way to differentiate is hex bolts versus the Allen bolts. If it has the hex bolts it should be USA made. If Allen bolts Taiwan or China. With the P3, at some point production shifted from the USA to Asia. It could be that handles and parts that were already made were shipped over and assembled after production in the USA stopped. Kaevin, this maybe the reason why some P3 are stamped Lynwood but have the Allen bolts. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge can chime in.
