PitCarver I hope the wife gets some relief from the doctor.

kaevin I'm glad you are making an effort to do something different. I envy your fresh start, but my late-night study days are way behind me.

:iagree: on both counts!  I have to say, I'm definitely not fast in water.  I've always thought training people in exercise would be very rewarding Kaevin.

PitCarver, I hope your wife is doing better too.  My wife suffers with a lot of pain in her lower body, due to some complications from a hip replacement surgery.

You'd be amazed at how cheap you can pick up a PowerLock. Recently saw one for $29 and another for $35.
I may be picking up a few SOGs soon!

I have a question for everyone. What was your first introduction to SOG and what lead you to pick up your Multitool or Multitools?

My first introduction was from this forum. I think I picked up my first P3 around 2016 or so. One P3 lead to seven now. It is by far my favorite SOG. Namely due to size and tool load out. I have a couple of PowerLocks and two PowerAssists, and finally a couple of Paratools. My least carried SOGs are the PowerAssists.

I only have a couple.  My introduction was in the Army with an issued Powerlock.  It was a solid, reliable tool, and I liked it and the Company that made it.  I still think it's a great multitool.  Time, in many ways, has passed it by, but it's still issued and it still gets it done.

Edit: Most of the time, what multitool I pick up has a lot to do with MTO.  I read reviews and experiences and think I'd like to try one.  Of all the tools on a multitool, the least used one for me is the pliers.  I've found, inevitably, that when I carry just a knife is exactly when someone asks me for a pair of pliers.  It's come in handy more times than I can count.

I liberated a couple of D-rings from their packaging this morning.  Needed some to add on a strap to a dump bag that I picked up last month.

Hard to say JonesE.  My first multitools were Leatherman and Gerber.   I first saw a post on a Facebook group that I belong to on the PowerPint.
After seeing one in person, I liked the size and picked up one that day.  At this point in my life I'm not facing the same challenges, requiring tools, as I did 20-30 years ago.

I had seen the Paratool before but, found it to be expensive as compared the PST II I had back in 2k. MT.o introduced me to the Powerlock some 3-4 years ago; six Paratools and eight Powerlocks later, here I am.  Mostly to hoard collect, I use the Powerlocks most often due to the pliers heads being true needlenose, that are casted in such a way that I can really "turn it" unscrewing bolts and nuts (the pliers halves support each other, like the Swisstool/Swisstool Spirit), and the multiplication factor (dang arthritis...)

Nice work everyone, lovin' every minute of the challenge!

I don't remember when I got my first SOG but it was certainly after I joined MTO or was at least lurking here, and was because of a recommendation here.  Pretty sure my first PowerLock was ordered online.  Same size and tools as the SuperTool 300, plus it had scissors, so I had to try it.  Then I got the PowerDuo because somebody posted that Lowes was clearing out SOG and everything was 40% or more off.  I made a loop and hit 6 or 8 Lowes stores in a 100 mile radius, and the PowerDuo was the only one I found.  It was empty hooks everywhere.  I wasn't really interested in the PowerDuo, I was hoping for another PowerLock, but I wasn't going to let any model slip away after driving all day to find it.  I completed the SOG Power challenge the first time in 2016.

Great sotories everyone. I found it interesting that most of us were introduced to SOG tools through the forum. I find it odd that even though I have lived here in Puget Sound now since 1991, that I had never seen one in the wild even though they were made in Edmonds and Lynwood during my time here. I know it sounds weird, but I totally missed SOG during it’s peak.

Day 19

Today I have been mostly working in my office on a project I was not able to finish during this work week. In between tasks, I brought in a old Starrett 436 micrometer to clean. Living here in PNW is a constant battle to keep rust from forming on my precision measuring tools. After the cleaning, I gave it a good wiped down with a very light coat of oil. Should be good to go for the next time I need to use it.

You weren't alone JonesE.  Gerber and Leatherman dominated the market.  If I hadn't gotten one in the Army I never would have heard of them either.  Actually, my multitool and knife collecting son was the one who refreshed my memory on SOG.  He's had several, including a Powerlock, Power Duo and several others that I can remember of.

I generally prefer used tools because they are pre-broken-in when you get them, whereas new tools are often stiff.  That's the case with my PowerPint.  Very stiff.  It doesn't easily flip open like a Balisong the way my well used PowerLock does.  In an attempt to make it better I applied a few drops of very fine synthetic machine oil and I've been working the joint for about an hour while watching a movie.  I can't get over how much debris is coming out of the joint.  I think any company, and not just SOG, should polish parts to fit perfectly before assembly so you shouldn't be seeing all this black goop being flushed out by the oil, and tools should be smooth right out of the box.  After an hour it is only slightly improved, but I believe it will get better over time.
