I did the SOG Power Challenge in 2016. I don't recall if there has been another since then.

Circumstances conspired against me here. The phone I use for taking and editing photos is becoming increasingly recalcitrant, and I forgot all about this challenge until today. That leaves me with little to no hope of obtaining a SOG Power by Tuesday. However, I'll follow along with great interest!

My newest PowerPint, in black, just came in this afternoon.  Now that I have a couple to choose from, for the challenge, let the fun begin.

Hi Everyone, new to the forum - is there a thread that explains the challenges and badges?  Thanks
Welcome to :MTO:
Go to your profile and click on awards.  You will see the available awards and can read the requirements for each.  Usually, it is 30 days of carrying the particular tool or series of tools as your only tool, or at least your primary tool, and taking a picture of the tool each day and posting the picture in the challenge thread.  You can start your own challenge thread at any time, but it is more fun to do it with a group.  The rules are determined by the member hosting the challenge, in this case it's Barry.  If it is a long-established challenge that we have done before, such as the traditional knife challenge or the Buck 110 challenge, we tend to follow the rules established when the challenge was first conducted.  Rules are adapted to include new models and of course allowances are made for members with legal or work restrictions about carrying knives or tools outside of their own home or property or at their place of employment.

Thank you Alan.  Here we go everyone!  I had an Army issued Powerlock back in the early 2000's, my first multitool.  I carried it until I lost it around 2010.  I was gifted this one by Powernoodle but haven't had an opportunity to really use it. I thought this might be a fun challenge, and  I'm glad to have everyone with me as we see what our SOGs can do!

Day 1 is a pic of my current Powerlock and a reproduction Studies and Observation Group patch that I got back in 1984.

Great start Barry!

Here's my Day 01 entry.
I used the V-cutter in the black PowerLock EOD to open a PowerPint.  The silver PowerLock has scissors which I prefer in an EDC.

Oh I had different plans on how I'd do this challenge, this time.    I HAD plans on opening my new BO PowerPint with the old silver one but I noticed that the magnet o had put on it was gone.
Might ask why I put magnets on it... well folks always seemed to complain about the inability of the PowerPint to latch closed compared to the PowerLiter.
Not much of an issue, with me, but I added a couple just because.
So today's offering shows their placement on the handles.
Let's see what other detours occur in the next 30 days.

Day 1.

Great photos and fantastic first day posts Alan, Barry, and PitCarver.

For this challenge, I will be going mostly with the Pocket Power Pliers. I really enjoy the size and lightweight of the tool. Todays version is a late production Lynwood WA, example.

Well done everyone!  My last pair of Powerlocks were Lynwood made.  I spent the majority of my time in the army at Fort Lewis, so that made them all the better to me!

Good morning everyone,
It seems that my predicted timeline has gone awry,
Nevertheless, I'm here today with the bit of leather to make a slip for the new PowerPint.  The wife bought it for me when we were in WNC, on vacation.  She asked me if I wanted about bundle but I told her that that was enough to keep me busy till I die.

Looks good to me Alan!  Which do you prefer, the older sheaths or the new version?

I like the one on the left with the longer flap better.  I think that is the older one.  The newer version is probably going to last longer though. I like the nylon sheaths because they are easy on and off and I carry tools other than SOGs in them all the time.  Carried the Leatherman P4 in it for the last month.  Really changed my mind about that one by the way.  I'm hoping that I can change my opinion on the PowerPint by carrying it for a month as well.  SOG's most durable sheath is probably the leather one that my silver PL came with which included the 1/4 inch adapter for bits in its own little space in the bottom of the sheath.  I don't think they offer leather anymore.

Day 2

Got another PPP with me today. This time with a stonewashed finish and hex bolts. These PPP are great in that they are a similar size to a PST, with the querkiness of a SOG.

I will agree, I do like the SOG box leather sheath to their nylon offerings. It is especially nice with the older SOGs.

Alan, I am happy the P4 is working out for you.

Day 03

I sharpened a pencil with the plain edge blade in the PowerPint.

I have to say that the blade on my Powerlock is definitely sharp!  I have a couple of SOGs knives and I've been impressed with them.

Day 3

Went with an Edmonds WA example of the PPP today. We got rain overnight, but it is clearing out and we will have a nice day. Glad you got your walk in Barry. I hope to get one later this afternoon.

Somehow a small change at the start of an idea railroads the entire thing for a while.

Instead of opening my new PowerPint on day one I had to replace the magnet on an older one.  Planned on getting to opening the BO PowerPint today but the Boss Lady is outside with me this morning and doesn't realize that I've been gotten another one.

So, a simple glamour shot of the other one.

I had to do the MacGyver challenge this month. I thought everyone might like to see my SOG. I am not too sure of the model. It might be a PowerPunch? Enjoying your challenge. Have some fun. Best wishes. G
