That first lanyard turned out good. And I'm loving all those SOGs, especially the EOD model. The C-4 spike looks like it might make a good marlinspike. If the chips fall in my favor, I'll soon own a SOG.

Hope everyone had a happy Easter!

Day 20
I accomplished absolutely nothing on Sunday except the recurring cycle of eat, watch western movies, and take naps.
I just woke up, again, having fallen asleep in front of the TV.  So, before I go to bed, I guess I'd better post the basic, contractual-obligation post, so I don't miss a day.  The PowerDuo has a really nice OHO, lock-back blade which is very much like the newer 111mm Vics.

Day 21: Cut open a package with the scissors.  I like the Powerlock scissors.  They're not as precise as the Vic scissors, but they accomplish the mission!

I do so love a mail call.  I especially love it when the Boss Lady rolls her eyes when I tell her that it's a leather purse that I'm gonna take apart for the tooled parts.

Priceless.

Day 21

Got the Stanley MaxEdge branded version of the P3 with me today. Besides the difference in branding, you can see the difference in the rounded end in the file and the serration on the blade. This one is stamped made in U.S.A. Even though it has the button head Allen bolts.

I've been lovin' this challenge since day 1, and thanks to Kaevin, Alan, Barry, JonesE, PitCarver, and Farmer (who's also following along like myself), has been inspirational. So much so, that here's a preview of my next project ( thanks, JonesE!) I'll be ready for the next one!!! :like:

Kaevin, good luck on your endeavour and that all sacrifices be as well rewarded as you have fought for it. (ps- did you added the tools you wanted into your PP?)

I'll be "perfecting" one of my Powerlocks by replacing its pliers head, with one from the Powergrab; a pliers head with a chunkier body, will fill in the gap between the geared handles, add an external bit driver, and maybe be used for "light persuasion/hammering"; same cutters, length, pivot points, and an "anvil-like" crimper (vs. rounded-type on Powerlock's) and only loosing the cap crimper: win-win! Something in the line of what JonesE did here, earlier in the challenge https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,93308.msg2526223.html#msg2526223

I am beginning to really appreciate having both scissors and a package opener in the PowerPint.  The factory configuration of the PowerLock only gives you one or the other.

Hi Juan, Wow, I am glad you found my post useful. I hope you read this before you start in on the project. You only need to enlarge the cutout in the handles to get the pliers to fit. After I did mine I realized that.

Step 1. Remove the original plier jaws.
Step 2. Install the PowerGrab plier jaws.
Step 3. Attempt to close the plier jaws back into the handles. You will note you will need to enlarge the cutout in the handles by about a quarter of an inch or so. Remove a little bit at a time. Just before you can fully close the handles move on to jewelers files to clean up the cutout. Once you can close the handles move on to sandpaper. Start at 80 to 100 grit and then move on to finer grits until it looks factory.

Lesson learned. You don’t need to do any modifications to the plier head. I didn’t realize this when I did mine. Anyway, good luck with your mod.

Thanks Juan. Still need to go through a placement session for them to give me a pass or no go for the swimming coach job.

Speaking of pp tools. It seems sog has no distributor in hk right now. All I got and saw were dead stock at shops. I won't be exploring the diy aspect for a while given my current busy situation.
