Day 8

Picked up a new to me Benchmade 551SBK yesterday. Gave it a good cleaning with isopropyl alchohol to sanitize it, followed by a quick sharpening. Today, I removed the beaver tail clip and installed the old style deep carry clip. The clip I used was from a 551-1 that had the old style paint. Prior to installing the clip, I sanded off all the old paint, then dipped it in ferric acid to etch the metal. This gives the clip sandblasted look. After the clip, was installed it helped me demask painters tape from the kitchen windows and floor trim. It also helped scrape some paint the previous owners left on the kitchen cabinets.

Day 8

Used the Case Large Stockman to trim up this cigar.

I find I have to use the PE portion of the blade for this; task; the SE portion rips it rather than cutting cleanly.

Day 9

I had to use a spoon for breakfast this morning.  A bowl of counterfeit oat rings.  I did walk around with the EZ Out yestiddy.  Stopped to take a gnarly tree photo.  One of these days I will have to tell about the tree psychic who came to visit.  Psychic.  Psycho.  One or the other.  Best wishes.  G

Day 9

Whittled my fingernails with the Colonial Rigging Knife today.

Of all the CE blades I have, it seems to do the best job with this task. I’m guessing maybe this is because the serrations are quite shallow…

It's a large knife, but not really heavy and well built too.  That blade is a cutter!

Tree psycho... do tell.

Day 8 - catch up

Did some gardening this weekend, or rather some gardening prepping.  Opened up a bag of potting soil and released a gardening auger from it's confines.

Had to clean up a bunch of hair, fur, and other detritus from this poor robovac.  (It was bad.)

It needs a spa day real soon.

Day 10

Rained again last night.  The grass is turning green already.  Sunshine and water does it every time.  I hooked up a charger to my Cub every time before I mowed last summer.  I got stubborn and refused to buy a new battery.  Won't be long before I have to go to W-Mart and grab one off the shelf.
EZ Out is operating on temporary active status before being shipped home.  The replacement is already scheduled for later this week.  A 'General' discharge is anticipated.  Didn't do an exemplary duty cycle, but didn't have to send the MPs after it only to find it drunken and disheveled in an alley either.
I think I regret not buying a TL type utility knife years ago.  An old buzzard at the flea market used to have a crate full of the things.  I appreciate the design more now, but didn't care much for it at the time.  He sold a few items now and then.  Not too many.  He always went for the gusto when he thought someone might buy an item.  The knives were always black and dirty.  Thinking back, maybe I don't regret it all that much.  Nevertheless.  Best wishes.  G

 Barry!

They are good quality knives.  I was disappointed to learn that this particular model is discontinued.
