Day 24

Went with black blades for Monday. Only action so far has been with opening of a package that was dropped off this morning.

I could never figure that out Nate.  I have an honest to goodness No. 12, and that blade would be great for outdoors.  I have an early version of the 12 with the cutting hook.  It's not bad, but I could definitely do without the hardware in the handle too!  Thanks for posting that comparison pic!

  BR!

I agree; I feel like if I’m going to carry the more substantial size around, then I want the No. 12 blade.  And if I’m going to be fine with the No. 10 blade, then I want it in the easier-to-pocket No. 10 handle.

How does that nixie thermometer operate?  Do you have a link for this awesome looking contraption?

Day 24

Needed to relax after dealing with an avalanche of ineptitude that seemed to multiply with every passing hour.  It got bad enough that I looked out my window at noon to make sure there weren't two full moons out because there sure were a lot of loonies that I had to deal with today.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 25

I'm going to have to look up the word 'nixie'.  I thought a nixie was a negative pixie.  Pixie +, Nixie -.  Sounds like a lot of negative happenings to friends in this challenge.  Friend Aztec dealing with a moronic onslaught.  Friend Gra-farmer dealing with sick children.  Could be due to excessive nixie negativity floating around.  Not making light of anyone's problems.  I would gladly send out a phalanx of pixies to bring good things into your lives.  Unfortunately, I never learned how.
It was probably a bit of overkill to take my EZ Out to open a little plastic bag of twirly pasta.  It did do the job.  To make this even more annoying, I might as well show a before and after.  I heard an Irish someone say that Americans call everything a 'salad'.  Might be true.  Salad is healthy, right? So, anything that gets the appellation of salad must be healthy as well.  The box said 'pasta salad'.  Boiled squirrely shaped noodles with some seasonings and desiccated vegetable fragments.  Little pack with mystery ingredients you have to mix with mayo for the dressing.  It will fill the bill anyway.  I would prefer a cheeseburger salad with french fries covered in tomato dressing.  Wouldn't even need a knife for that.  Best wishes.  G

In case anyone doesn't read the other more obscure threads, I would like to remind you that beginning March 2 there will be a Gas Station MRE 7 day challenge.  Look in to the Outdoor Cuisine section to see details.  I decided to host this thing and as wildly popular as this challenge is, there are still a limited number of openings to participate.  G

Great pic and love those temps!

Thanks Barry  :tu:
That's a bit cool for summer, going to be much warmer today, into the 30's C
It was 22C when i got up about 6 this morning and i thought it was a bit chilly  my apologies to those of you who know what real cold is

Very glad you asked me that AC  ???  er I plugged it in and Robert's your aunties live in lover  :D

They often come as kits but I bought this one ready made from eBay for about A$50
I've just done a quick search and the prices seem to have gone up a lot, you're paying mainly for the tube as they're getting rarer all the time.
Apparently they get them out of old soviet submarines and power stations etc

Here's a link I did find but can't vouch for it

Day 25

Endura on package duty.  New windshield wipers were in order.

Also, here on day 25, I encountered the first task for which I thought the CE blade/SE portion might really have an advantage.  Had to cut a plastic strap.  The Opinel No. 08 Outdoor was in my pocket.  Its serrations seem designed to cut on the pull stroke more than the push stroke, so that’s what I did.  I was a little disappointed that it took two swipes to get entirely through the tough plastic strap, but that could have been operator error.  I was at work, so unfortunately no action shot.

Thanks for the link!  I didn't realize they were real nixies.  I thought they were those LED kits.  Very nice!

Day 25

Opened up a bag of chorizo spices to try on some burgers.  They were pretty tasty if I do say so myself.  No pics of the burgers as they were quickly inhaled before I could take a pic.

 :hatsoff:

As I said in another post i've another clock using different tubes but due to it's weird programming system (online and no longer supported) I can't get it to work....i will persevere

There's some other real cool tubes available but they get pretty expensive

A lot were coming out of Ukraine but obviously in recent years that's become harder, here's a link to one of the main suppliers from there....along with their thoughts on the war

Day 26

With all the rain this winter at least the water levels are up here on Werecoyote Trail.  I looked out my front door to see if any deer were visiting just before sundown and saw a fire.  I thought it was the sun shining off something, but I could see the fire flickering.  Somebody had set a fire.  I watched a little, then decided to investigate.  Not really very dry in the leaves, but there was a wind.
Once I got closer, I saw it was the little spring that comes by my house.  It had come back up from it's usual subterranean course and was flowing above ground again.  The fire was the sun reflection.  I decided to take a photo with the EZ Out at the base of a poplar.
I saw a British idiom in a post here yesterday.  A version of "Bob's your uncle."  I bet you could pull 100 people off the streets here and not one would be able to define that saying.  I watch British and Australian programs sometimes and have heard it.  Then I will have to look it up online to figure it out.  So far I have done that maybe three times so far.  The vernacular just won't stay in my brain.  Just like "hold my beer" or "dead for a dollar."  I wonder if our Canadian friends here have blank expressions when they hear these?  Oh yeah, I forgot to look up nixie too.  Maybe my negatively charged pixie definition will suffice until I remember to do that.  If I remember.  Best wishes.  G
