MINI CHALLENGE FOR FRIDAY 15

I figured to fill in if nobody volunteered by Wednesday (today).  Requirements for Friday's mini-challenge are these:  1) Usual key-chain tool photo,2) something orange colored, 3) a strange hand tool.  First two you can figure out.  The third has to be something you have that not everyone else does.  Could be a tool to set teeth on a saw, something to put tags in cow's ears, barbed wire pliers.  Out of the ordinary.
You have two days to think it over.  Post your entries by Friday August 15.
Best wishes.  G

Challenge accepted!

   MINI CHALLENGE TOMORROW REMINDER

I got to thinking about strange hand tools (challenge?).  Then I thought of one that I don't really know the name for.
There used to be a really nice smaller department type store near where I live.  Rose's was the name.  It was a chain that had stores like K-Mart, but smaller.  Clothes.  Household items.  That sort of thing.  If you bought some ear bobs at the jewelry counter you could get a free pierced ear job.  The girl behind the counter would clonch down on your ear lobe with a plastic thing that looked for all the world like a stapler.  Green plastic.  It would go click, clack as it chomped on a female ear.  I have no idea how they kept the thing sanitary between ear piercings.  Maybe the girl would daub alcohol on the tooth between jobs?
Anyway, I was in the store for something or other and walked by the jewelry counter.  One young woman had leaned her head over the counter with an attempt at a brave look on her face.  The counter girl took hold of one ear, and placed the stapler thing on a lobe.  It made a hole and also made a kerlatch sound.  Not a click, clack, but a kerlatch.  And latch on was what it did.  Like a stubborn pup with a frisbee, it wouldn't let go.  She pulled on the handles.  She tried to pry the jaws apart with her fingers.  Nope.  It wouldn't let go.  She was flustered, and the one having her ear clamped was trying to smile a little.  Finally the counter girl left to find some help leaving the piercing recipient holding onto the green plastic thing and talking to herself.  I had a pocket knife, but there was no way I was going to play hero on this one.  I have no idea whether they pried the thing loose, or called 911.
Best wishes.  G

I'm surrounded by a musically inclined family.  Unfortunately, I'm not one of them
I love me some bagpipes.  When I was younger, I wanted to learn how to play the bag pipes as I always thought they were very cool.  I learned early on that I could barely play a kazoo.  While I still think bagpipes are cool, I'm pretty sure my family appreciates me not trying to learn them.

Day 13

Used the pliers to pull out a staple from this board before buying it so as not to slice my hand or the interior of our SUV.

Say, you have a Swiss+Tech and red keychain just like I do.  Wait a minute....  I just looked up from an early lunch of macaroni to see if there was something interesting on MTo.  The mini tool could have helped with the pasta sauce, but there is no can opener on the thing.  Very minimal tool.  Come to think of it, this thing is probably my first plier based multi?  Best wishes.  G

Day 4

LM really got it right with the PS4 imo

Hard to disagree with that.  Next best, for me, is the NexTool S11.

That's okay, Gordon.  How about next Bonday Monday, you post a photo of a Bond and say that's mine.  Probably the only way I will ever have one.
I hope you are searching through your obsolete tool box and finding some odd-ball tool for the mini-challenge tomorrow.  I looked through my obsolete tools and found something.  Knocked a little dirt off of it.  Best wishes.  G

Rain, rain, go away...
Normally,  I'd be complaining about the heat but this year it's the rain.
I'm once again sitting out on the front porch watching it rain.
It's not a challenge, here, without having a blade of some sort, to part my cigar into halves.

LM really got it right with the PS4 imo, all the tools are useful and in a great sized package, really beats me why they dropped it without a replacement :dunno:

That story sounds like a nightmare.

I did have my ears pierced by that stapler looking thing, but it was at a little kiosk in the maill that my Dad took me too.  So much for Mom saying I was too young, because what was done was done.

I understand the feeling.  Either it is too hot and humid to go out or it is raining.  We are having a slight cool down here so taking full advantage.

We had 10 minutes of downpour and right back up to the mid 80's again.  I'd actually like some rain because my yard is toast!

Trimmed a loose thread on a Case bandana. Used the bandana to wipe some condensation off a deck chair later.

Used the tweasers to pull a Cedar splinter from my index finger. Don’t think it worked very well. Ended up using the knife blade to dig it out.

Day 12:

Assembled wheel stand. Used the Squirt for cutting packaging.

I will admit, simply just folding up this whole unit and packing it in the closet is much better than having to unscrew two different things.

I think I might have an uncommon tool knocking about in the garage.  I just need to remember where I put it.

I'll take some rain over here please.  It'll help keep my grass alive and it'll help bring down the temp a little bit.

Day 14

Package duty today.  Nothing multi-tool related I'm afraid.

The tweezers loosely remind me of the Wenger tweezers.  They're functional, but Vic makes a more functional version.  I'm glad you posted this JonesE!

Day 15

Friday mini challenge :tu:

Hmmm got plenty of tools but unique, unusual, that’s a bit harder

So after a bit of head scratching I remembered my opal miners hammer, probably not too many of those in the challenge I thought, but could I find it, no :ahhh

So I’m going to have to settle with the Kraken Blade by Oceanus Brass. It got lots of use when I moved last year, heavy beast but does the job well

*Front sight staking tool for a 1911 pistol.  Now that sights have dovetail cuts, no one uses this tool anymore.  I used it once, and did a very good job for a lot less money than a gunsmith.
