If anyone wants some edc ratchet suggestions, click the link in my signature for the edc ratchet review marathon. I've reviewed around 30 I think. :salute:

Ratchet challenge.  Does this count as a ratcheting tool?

It is reversible.
It clicks when you allow it to extend.
It even will lock so it stays extended.
It has interchangeable bits.
When fully compressed it allows ratcheting handle rotation to install or extract a screw.

This one has Sears name on it.  I bought it long enough ago it was made in Japan as opposed to the large asian country.
When I was 5 or so, my father built wooden boats as a hobby and used a Stanley Yankee.  I grew up with that screwdriver.  My brother bent it’s shaft one day.

But is it a ratchet? Post a picture or link to it. :tu:

EDIT
Sorry, I just saw your picture now, my internet was really slow when I posted that. :tu:

Tool Picture posted above.  When Stanley made it,  the name was  ‘“Yankee” spiral ratchet screw driver’

Is it this tool?

It does not seem like a ratchet at first, but it does have a switch to get it to go either clockwise or anti-clockwise. So it counts. :tu:
Plus, it would be awesome to see some old school tech in the challenge. When will we get another chance to have a tool like that join a challenge? :like:

The yellow handled tool I show here and above is a Sears branded item, made in Japan,  But, it is a direct descendant of the yankee tool you show in the video.  Stanly named it the Yankee” radial ratchet screw driver.
I plan to use this tool and some other ratchets in this challenge.

A couple more yankee screwdriver type tools. Spindles in these are covered. Actually push drills. Can't reverse these or ratchet. Very handy for light jobs. These use spade bits. Cap in base removes for internal bit storage. Friend Jeff's model is more versatile. Best wishes. G

I am in.

I am thinking about getting another thin sandwich to replace my sellery. Can't decide between a sunflag 776 (20mm, cheaper)  or vessel TD-76-79 (18mm more expensive, seems to be same as engineer dr-27) .

I have the Vessel. I really liked it. The Engineer seemed too similar so I did not get it. If you are ordering from Amazon Japan, the SK11 ultra thin ratchet is also quite nice. SK11 also makes ultra stubby bits (12mm long) that fit it perfectly. Any 1/4" bits fit the SK11 ratchet perfectly. Stubby bits, double ended bits, Leatherman bits, long double end impact bits. It is amazing. I enjoyed reviewing the SK11. And it is very inexpensive.

I have reviewed many ratchets, click the link in my signature to check out the thread.

What do you think about this one? SK11 52 teeth 16mm (with 16mm stubby)

To participate, does it have to be a mini or “edc” type ratchet? Or can it be any kind?

Edit to add:  Also, do ratcheting wrenches count? The kind where they ratchet, but you have to flip them over to reverse direction?

52 teeth? That might be the same head as the Topeak and the other similar micro ratchets. It looks ok to me. I say go for it!

To participate you need a ratchet of some sort. Any type is ok. Big, small, reversible, built into another tool, it's all good. Fell free to join with any ratchet you have.  :tu:

As I  am at GMT+8 my day 1 has started.

Sellery sandwich 16 teeth. The first ratchet I have. Nothing really special but it works. Bought when I moved out, and it has put together most of the furniture in my home.

Comes with a set of bits an extender and a set of sockets. I still use the bits it comes with except the two worn out ph2 that I have replaced with a new ph2 and pz2.

It's cheap. It works.
