Day 15

Management assigned me to junk removal duty at my daughter's home this morning. Upon arrival, I attempted to recruit my grandson to assist me. After intense negotiations, he agreed to help out for the cost of a snack and some VBucks (the in-game currency for the online game Fortnite).

We stopped at a local Sheetz convenience store to get a Sprite and a bag of Cheetos. My grandson spotted the Fortnite giftcards and wanted me to go ahead and buy one in case they were all purchased in the interim.  :gimme:

My almost 56 years of life has taught me that a VBucks card in hand would guarantee a lack of effort on his part and pressure on me to hurry up so that he could get home and go on a spending spree. Therefore, nothing was to be bought until the work was performed.

We then traveled on to the electrical shop to dispose the household junk into the dumpster. The dumpster was nearly full, so we had to take some care to tuck the smaller items into empty recesses among the pre-existing junk/trash. After doing that, we were left with his old toy box which needed to be disassembled to fit in the dumpster. Having the BO Klein hanging on my belt loop and some bits and a bitholder in my pocket meant we were prepared to do it:

Watching my grandson using my tools filled me with good feelings, so I decided to increase his pay from 1000 VBucks ($8.99) to 2800 VBucks ($19.99 at Sheetz). When I told him of my decision, he redoubled his effort to take apart the toy box:

Once the toy box was disposed of, we swepted out the truck bed and sent a photo to Management to give visual proof that the job was complete:

We then completed one other errand for Management , stopped at Sheetz for the VBucks card, and then traveled back to my daughter's home. All in all, it was a very pleasant 3 hours spent  :tu:

As part of my toolbox organization, I had room to put my Armstrong ratchet and sockets back in its box.

Day 14??
Think I missed a day, not shure if I did or what day it is... a risk of years working/living overnights.
 :dunno:

Anyway here's a couple random no-names. I think the flex head is from an auto parts store, probably Advance or O'Reilly. The other has a great handle that feels like the MasterMechanic but the ratchet head is quite diffrent.
Neither is marked.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

Powernoodle Day 15

Mini EDC convenience kit, with my smallest ratchet. [/i]

That's cool, but disconcerting.  Dental floss, and a wrench...

DAY 16  I found this Bic lighter on a trail, and it works!  I'd have won the survival show!  I like Bic four color pens, and the Sunflag ratchet.  Except for my SAK, it's all I need for the day.

There is one thing I wonder on my VICTORINOX Ratschett: it’s stated 30 nm max on the Box, so how do I know that I’m under 30 nm? , Is it possible on this short lever to get more than 30 nm force whit one hand?  I’m not that trained , I can carry maximal 30 kg weight, but I don’t want to make the ratchet kaputt as a new would cost around 70€..
Your SAK is only fully yours, when it bites you, or you opend a Trink of your joice whit it
SAKs i have: Huntsman Light (Red Transparent), Workchamp (Black), Wenger EvoGrip S557 (Red), Swisschamp XLT (Red Transparent).. Swisschamp (Blue Transparent) Cybertool L (Blue Celidor (custom scales) , Huntsman (Black Celidor) , Victorinox EvoGrip S557 (Red, but sadly lost in my house somewhere) Victorinox Delemont S17 and S57 ..  , waiting for: Swiza D09 Blue

I would say that, given a normal grip on the handle, it would take 45 to 50 kg of force to exceed the 30 Nm torque rating. That will take some real exertion to acheive and probably would exceed what the bit or the fastener could handle. I doubt you could break the ratchet with one-handed usage.

So whit pockets full of EDC Stuff I would have about 70 kg, and the Lever is quite short, so this means for normal Screwing I can't destroy this Ratchet, as long as I don't put a big tube on it to extent the Lever ..  this makes the Victorinox Ratchet lots of more useful ..

On the task on Friday where I did dissemble the Shop Door, it was already showing that an Ratschet is much nicer to Screw something loose than lets say the BitDriver on the Cybertool ^^

Only issue I still have is that its barely fits in my EDC Pouch,  its fits somehow inside but needs a bit of scratching the Pouch Material a bit ..,  but using the Swisstool Belt Pouch is also not and solution as its much too big..  would maybe work on an Workers Belt where also other tools are, but not whit my a bit more "Stealth" EDC ..

1/2” ratchet is about 50 years old.  IIRC, it was bought soon after I started my first job after graduating college.

That is awesome.  I love older tools with character, including those I have inherited from my father and father-in-law.  They would have many stories.

DAY 16

I was so quick getting out of work today that I accidentally brought my radio home (I must have thought it was my work phone?)

No uses...again, but I have a day off tomorrow so I'm determined to find something to tighten up or loosen off (probably both given my skill level)

I do know that the Klein handle does feel "right" in my hand compared to the Milwaukee.
