5" Knipex Cobra Easy Pocket Clip mod
on: January 12, 2025, 12:06:03 AM
Did someone already do this?  This mod just uses the factory screw & factory threaded hole & a pocket clip from Amazon. It's not perfect but its fast.  If you work your pocket fabric over the screw head hump inside the pocket clip it gives a firm hold on this or a similar pocket clip.
I also had to bend the screw hole fold on the clip out a little with pliers to get the screw in (magnetic or tight fitting bits help & maybe sharp tipped angled tweezers). Then bend the fold back in after the screw was in place. Some narrow trimned blue tape helps if you want to hold the screw from falling out while bending the clip fold back in before installing on the Knipex pliers.  The pocket clip will bend back tighter a little after installed too but its easier to bend back before installing with strategically positioned pliers. See pics.

Those are some nice photos.  Lots of Knipex fans here.  I don't recall seeing that mod before.  Best wishes. Gary

Thanks!  Its actually a 4 pic collage but my phone is only showing the two left side pics unless I click on it so hopefully all whole image works.
*edit* Actually I can just scroll the pic further to the left side as well without clicking on it.

So tell us.  Do you like plier based multi tools?  SAKs?  Fixed blades?  Traditional stuff?  Best wishes.  Gary

- Plier based multitool for EDC with standard non flat bit holder (ideally magnetic but longer bits can be used with a small magnetizer sleeve put on in a pinch). I wish the Bibury P4 clone had a tool changer on it though, I like that its smaller & lighter than the Surge & Surge clone. I keep Surge in car.  I want to get a Surge rachet bit soon.
- Fixed blade full tang + hammer capable butt end on grip is good to have in car for batoning & hammering.
- A good SAK is awesome but I havent tried as an EDC
- I want to mod a extra bit holder with pocket clip soon for the P4 clone.
- Knipex mini + a good pliers multitool + Olight Baton 4 is a serious EDC. Its been working for me. The Olight reversible clip is a game changer; fits snug on my baseball cap for reliable bright hands free light & super lightweight plus brightness options.
I would like to get a dedicated folding saw with quick blade change for car & that folding hacksaw thing I forgot who makes it.
Of course theres more multitools I want & new ones comming out all the time.  The Leatherman EMT shears whaterver theyre called look awesome too.

Oops almost forgot part of my EDC:
Double ended Sharpie with modded 2nd function: Travel Tape dispenser. The clear tape works great as "laminator" + blue tape & narrow trimmed Gorilla tape . Also a cheap Grocery Outlet bttry powered engraver is great to keep in car to mark how & where parts fit back together for car & other types of equipment repairs along with pics of course.

The Sharpie is also a post it note/label maker too.
Tape Tips:
- Before sticking on the last part of the tape fold a little back on to itself sticky side to sticky side then you have an easy pull tab to remove it in those applications where it will be removed at some point.
- Some tape rolls are stubborn & a pain to find the end seam to pull the day's first piece of tape. You can do a sticky to sticky pull tab or simply put a peice of a twist tie close to the end seam of the tape with sticky part of tape holding twist tie in place.

That is some interesting stuff.  Looks like you might be a good future SAK owner.  At least a 58mm for your keychain.  Best wishes.  Gary
