I really want a bantam with blue alox scales. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Knife Center had these a while back.  I picked up a red one.

Swiss Knife Shop used to have them, but no more.

A quick search has turned up only silver, black, and red anywhere at the moment.

Might have to keep an eye on the ‘bay, or settle for a different color.

Can alox scales be swapped?

Yes, but it’s a good deal more involved than swapping cellidor or nylon scales.

Because alox scales are pinned to the knife, the ends of the pins would have to be carefully drilled out.  Then the scales could be removed.  New pin stock (or screws) would be needed to assemble the new SAK.

IIRC, some folks have tried starting with the basic silver alox and painting or otherwise coloring it, with varying success, so that might be an option as well.

As Nate says, you'd have to turn to the secondary market right now. I hope that will change one day.

I went to check bugnard.ch, who offers a number of blue alox' with their logo printed on the little square on one of the scales. Unfortunately Bantam wasn't one of them. :dunno:
