I didn't toss the piece of Vienna sausages to Beijing...she took it right out of my hand. And I've been known to consume Vienna sausage broth/brine, more out of a desire to not see it go to waste. Barbecue, hot, and Buffalo sauces are much more palatable. The tuna in a pouch is alright; I like the spicy ones.

Dinner

Not much to report here. The soup is Campbell's Chunky old-fashioned potato ham chowder with salt and pepper added. It's pretty good. I also finished the rest of the Cheez-It snack mix (I had some as a snack earlier).

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Of everything I alloted for the day and didn't expect to have in excess, only the trail mix remained untouched. I guess I shall now request the badge.

Thanks to Gary for hosting and all who.made this a fun and most interesting challenge!

I meant to post as I ate each meal but the day got the better of me as I had to install a stove, a microwave, a shelf, etc....  Yup, actually got to do some stuff from the honey-do list.  On to the gourmet meals.

Breakfast

Breakfast was really good.  Just wish I had chickens as I could've collected a fresh egg on Monday, left it in the lunch SAK all week, and it would've still been good for today.  The teriyaki Spam on a burger bun was real good but it could've used a fried egg and some Sriracha.  I did save one slice of Spam for tomorrow morning's breakfast to give that a go.   :D

I heard about a different way of making instant coffee.  You're supposed to dissolve the instant coffee in room temperature water before adding the hot water so as not to "burn" the coffee.  It looked real lumpy until I added the hot water.  To my surprise, it did seem to change the taste a bit for the better.  Might be my new way of making instant coffee.

Lunch

Ended up eating a late lunch but it was still pretty good.  I saved one of the thick slices of Spam from breakfast and sliced it up with the Minichamp and dropped it in the ramen.

Didn't finish all the crackers but the tuna was pretty good.  First time trying one of these tuna packets.

This is tastier than I expected.

Dinner

The wife made homemade stroganoff which is the only time I almost faltered from completing my mission.  I persevered and the family saved me some stroganoff so I can have it for lunch tomorrow.  Chef Boyardee doesn't do too bad of a job with the ravioli and I used the hamburger bun to sop up the sauce.  The granola bar had enough sweetness to satisfy my sweet tooth after dinner.

This was pretty fun and thanks to Gary for hosting it.  It's given me a few ideas to try next time this challenge is hosted.

Cheers!

Someone told me one time that Vienna sausages were the perfect outdoor food.  It was food and drink all in one.  Eat the weenies and drink the juice that's left over in the bottom of the can.  I disclaim all knowledge of the last part.  Not me.  Nuh uh.  Never gonna happen.  Yuck.  How could anybody do that?  Okay, I did it today.  It's sort of thick and very salty.  In case anyone wanted to know.  Just for future reference.  Best wishes.  G

Those of us who will never have to test this ourselves  :salute: you.  I think I could eat them after being warmed up on a car engine, but not cold.  As Tallahassee said, "It's not the taste, it's the texture."

I’ve enjoyed following along with this.

 :hatsoff: to all the participants!

And a second  :hatsoff: to those who either:

- Persevered through the challenge while watching their families eat tastier, more nutritious fare.

- Packed foodstuffs normally eaten warm and then proceeded to consume them cold right out of the can.   I don’t even like cold pizza; I would have to get fairly hungry to resort to this.

For lunch today I cooked the content of the other pre-made-meal-in-a-can, which I bought for my MRE. This was a bolognese type of dish made on the basis of lentils. It was equally as tasteful as the other one. I could easily see myself buying these again.

I wanted to prepare it outside, so I took the old Billycan out and cooked it over a hobo stove. The Gerber came along for can duty. The can fell over when I attempted to take the picture, resulting in a bit of spillage. The dog was rather pleased with that little incident though. :D

I read about the spork challenge, so I brought the lot. There should be three in the green eating bowl, if you take a good look. I served with one, ate with another and the last, one of the small ones, since it's of a studier build, did a bit of scraping of the Billycan of some burned remains before dish washing. Does this meet the requirements for the badge?

Nice wind-up for the challenge.  Still have one member to go.  I enjoyed seeing the outdoor cooking.  Friends Gra and Dane get an additional 2 points for that, and friends Dane and Gra get 1 point each for the Gerber and Roxon multis.
Now for the Spork User badge question.  If you are in a challenge, you can only get the one badge.  For instance, if I were in the Lawn Tool Fixing challenge, I could get the LT badge, but not a Duct Tape User badge as well.  Even if I used duct tape to fix the tool.  Best idea if you want the spork user badge is to submit your photos in a new thread specific to the requirements.  You could use some photos to get either the Spork User or Outdoor Cooking badge.  Just pick one. Congratulations on getting your first badge.  I made up the Lawn Tool Fixing challenge, just in case you try to look it up.  Best wishes.  G

Some of you who have been here a while know about Dana Delaney showing up on my MTO header every day for quite some time.  Some kind of offer to sell peek-a-boo photos of my beloved, I think.  Anyway I got accustomed to her face and fantasized a little about drinking her coffee in the morning across the breakfast table.  She stopped writing and Demi Moore started showing up on my MTO home page, so to speak.  Now I am getting a new offer from a pretty blonde actress.  Some Polish girl.  I should recognize her from a movie, but I forget what.  I will post a photo of the ad.  The part of this ad that I thought was funny happened to be some Baptist organization was peddling her photos.  Or maybe she is a Baptist.  I don't know.  Blonde and Baptist could work..... now that I think of it.  I wonder if she can cook?  Best wishes.  G

Linda Kozlowski is probably best known for her role as the title character’s love interest in the “Crocodile Dundee” movies.

I have no comment on the rest of your post.   :D

I will try that trick with instant coffee sometime. As for Dana Delaney vs. Mrs. Crocodile Dundee...no comment.

Ok. I couldn't wait until Tuesday to eat my GSMRE.  Today was the day.  Those pop-tarts were calling me, and I was helpless against their temptation.  Breakfast started with the stir fry sweet chili flavored Cup a Noodles and a cup of the instant Folgers coffee.  I had to use two packets of the Folgers.  Still feeling a bit peckish I went ahead and ate the seafood flavored Cup a Noodles as well.  Lunch was the can of smoked oysters and some chili and lime-flavored puffed wheat snack chips for crackers.  The pop-tarts were for dessert.  For late afternoon snack I had the mini raviolis which I ate right out of the can.  Finally, Supper was the sardines with more of the chili and lime-flavored puffed wheat snacks for crackers, along with the Bota Box of Cabernet Sauvignon and about half of the can of pitted black olives.  Last picture is Leo, whose whereabouts were unknown for most of the day, but who magically appeared about 2 seconds after I opened the can of sardines.

The rest of the pictures.  Not shown are the items I didn't eat today.  I didn't have the lemonade flavored drink mix as I was drinking coffee all day (4 more of the Folgers packets), and I didn't eat the SPAM, or the menudo soup, or the Pork Rinds.  Might be tomorrow's lunch or they might all just go back into the pantry.

First off, I will have to say I am going to look for the mini-ravioli with meat balls next time I go shopping.  I will be heating mine up.  I about finished off my pack of Folger's instant.  Might have one left.
I think friend Alan pulled down the curtains and turned off the lights on this challenge.  Lots of fun.  Of course, there will be the usual 2 point SAK and 1 point cat bonuses given.  Best wishes.  Gary

I made a big, long post about a situation, then took it down.  Friend Alan responded to it, evidently as I was removing it.  For the record, I have posted messages several times only to say.... Nah, I don't want that left up here.  This was one of those.  Best wishes.  G

Glad you're ok and no serious damage.  I freeze 2 liter bottles of drinkable water to help keep the fridge cold during a power failure and I have drinking water when they melt.  I used up all of my poptarts last week.

I never thought about freezing water for that type of situation.  I'm going to have to remember that one.
