Day 26

Did a little bit of work on an older SOG PPP today. I picked up this one a couple of years ago and it has been sitting awaiting its turn to get cleaned up and put back into service. This one sat in a sheath for a while and moisture got in the joints of the tools and started to rust. Luckily, I was able to get to it before it started pitting. Looking forward to carry this one during the SOG Power Challenge that is coming up.

I did use the the diamond file from the Arc to smooth out some gouges in the handle of the PPP. Then followed up with some light sanding progressively going to finer grits till the gouges disappeared.

I'm a fan of the diamond file.  It is smooth enough to use on skin boo boos, but will still eat steel and other materials when called upon.

I will say I really like the file on the Arc. Works very well and I am happy they went with the crosscut file and diamond file. One of the things I find lacking in the P4 is the file. My preference would have been for a full size file over the tiny one they went with.

Day 27

Today the high hit 64F with clear skies. Seems like it was only a week ago and we had highs in the 20s. Glad spring is on the way.

I’ve been carrying a Free P2, P4, Arc, or Mr Crunch every day this month.

The Bond challenge in January was no real hardship, but I do appreciate the convenience of the outside opening tools and the fidget factor.

Now that you've all lived with them for a month I have questions.  I got a P4 a year or so ago, took it out of the box and took an instant dislike to it.  The locks went the wrong way, and the tools were short & stubby.  It went back in the box and hasn't seen the light of day since.  The ARC seems to have corrected some of this, at least with the file, but is it really worth a hundred dollars more than the P4?  I'll never be able to justify in my own mind paying $249.00 for a tool, but you never know when you might find one on Ebay from one of those TSA sellers.  Is the ARC that much better than the P4? :dunno: Is it even that much better than the Wave?
