The Leatherman Super Crunch
on: February 24, 2025, 11:21:20 PM
Gentlemen, I present to you..........The Leatherman Super Crunch.

Part of my submission to Leatherman:

It took lots and lots of daydreaming, but here's my solution. One afternoon of work allowed me to create this once I saw it in my head. I can turn it back into an unmodified Crunch in a few minutes. Honestly, I was impressed at how handy it instantly became just with the full size outside accessible knife. I can grab it in my pocket, open the blade, and cut open a bag of salt, then close the knife and put it back in my pocket so fast it's crazy. All while wearing leather gloves!! Even if it only had one outside tool to keep it as slim as possible, I'd grudgingly agree it's a big improvement (I would rather LM release it as originally designed). One or two outside tools is pretty handy though.

Craig that's great!  I regret not picking up a Crunch but I like your version better.  Much more EDC friendly!

Super nice Craig.  Your video sells the concept with it simplicity.

A WaveyCrunch!

If I was younger, I would even buy it.

I never did purchase a CRUNCH, I already had several ViceGrips in a variety of sizes.

Again, well done 😉
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I think your mods look fantastic.

It’d transform the Crunch from a very useful secondary tool to an everyday carry regular for me.

Only problem would be if the handles still had a tendency to split open when pocket carried without a sheath.

Thanks Barry. Hopefully they will re-release them someday so you can get one. They are super fun to use.

I feel silly, but I haven't been around for long enough that I had to look up Heathered Cranberry to find out what you were talking about

Thanks Crunchie!

Yes, since my mods don't affect the original form at all, it still opens if knocked around. So this would remain a sheath carry MT. I have been simply carrying it in my Carhartt coat pocket. That way, I can fit my gloved hand in to grab it. It doesn't get bumped around as much as my pants pockets, and won't create a problem if it opens in the heavy canvas coat anyway.

We've had a heck of a winter and I've gone through more bags of salt than I can count. I love EDC'ing my PST, but I have to remove a glove to open the knife. That's not fun when it's literally 0 degrees F. Cutting open a million bags of salt with the knife while wearing gloves has been a great test for this mod and it has surpassed my expectations.

This is the type of thing Leatherman should be doing rather than the nonsense they are up to lately.
