Day 11

An interesting day today and glad to have my Swisschamp.  Went to a great aunts house and found a light switch was not working. It’s a double that controls a porch light and interior entrance way light. Replacing the bulb did nothing. Tested and wires were hot to the light and to the switch so replaced the switch.  Here’s the kicker: the old switch was from the 70s at least. Very shallow box and small switch and these new switches are quite deep. I didn’t have enough room to stuff the wires further and couldn’t cut any excess.  I had to build a small box out of extra molding to fill the 1/8” gap between switch plate and cover.  Unfortunately I didn’t get any pics trying to get it done before the kids needed to leave.   :twak:

I used the cap lifter and Phillips on the screws and switch poles. Scissors to trim the old wire insulation back and pliers to remove and loop wires.  I also had to use the pliers to untie the tied common pole from the old switch to secure to the two common poles on the newer switches.  This was clearly part of a two-way switch that doesn’t exist snymore.  Then I used the saw and file to cut and shape the molding and had to chisel some of the frame away with the blade and chisel to fit around the uneven plaster wall.   Got to love these 100+ year old houses.   :ahhh

Anyways, here’s the the SC  :nanadance:

Day 12

I took a couple of handfulls of SAKs outside to air them out and give them some sunshine.
I left their tags on them so they could be identified but the size/quality of the pic makes them unreliable I think.

Out exploring with the Explorer!  Some lichen on a tree.

PS: Can anyone tell me how to get the scissors spring to fit on this knife?  It seems like the loop end might be too large on these springs to fit in the slot
