Wenger Scout Knife from 2007 is it rare or unusual?
on: March 11, 2025, 04:47:50 PM
As the topic title says, is this rare/unusual and does it have any value to a collector.

It belongs to my partner and she came across it whilst clearing out some stuff, had obviously forgotten she had it and asked the question.

Anybody have any thoughts on it?

I think I would call your friend's pretty knife a Wenger Evo 11.  Like a Highlander with contoured scales.  No doubt about when it was issued, right?  I think all nice clean Wengers are collectible now.  I wouldn't venture a guess for value.  Best wishes.  G

How about a photo of the World Scout S11?  The logo might be a little clearer without the camera glare.  It also came with no date and non-evo scales.  You can see how the nail files on Wengers sometimes have the rough side facing the blade and sometimes facing the scales.  Seems like most of the older ones faced the blade.  You could feel the file drag slightly on the old types as the rough surface touched the blade.  Best wishes.  G

Non evo scales.  Same year as first photo.  There was a Ranger with the scale graphic as well.  I'm not sure why this model was called an 11 instead of S11, since the S means lock.  Best wishes.  G

Your thanks are very gracious.  I'm not sure I did you any good with my comments.  Best wishes.  Gary

Gary did a great job with the ID. He also correctly stated that just about any Wenger in good shape has collector value. Yours looks to be in mighty fine shape. If you're planning on selling it, I'd say £40-50 would be a good starting point...but that's just my opinion guess.

Thanks again folks, I'm not sure whether she wants to sell, I think she was just curious to fond out more and I had mentioned previously that Wenger had become part of Victorinox etc  :tu:

Were it my call, I'd try to persuade her not to sell. I think it's a really cool SAK!

I agree, it is cool and it is unused and it its original tin, it even has the outer card sleeve in good condition. I see it as a rare survivor and for that reason alone should be kept and treasured - but, of course, it's not my call  :D
