New mini stove
on: March 22, 2025, 09:07:03 PM
My little butane burner crapped out at the BBQ cookoff last weekend. I picked this up on Amazon this week for $14. Haven't attempted to heat anything on it yet. Looking forward to packing it on a motorcycle camping trip over Memorial Day weekend.

Dang, that's a tiny little thing! Looks like it would be perfect for motorcycle camping. Hope it works out well for you.

That looks like a very handy little stove!

I'm sure its fine, but does the fuel bottle heat up at all?  I am always very concerned about having the fuel bottle potentially exposed to the flame.  I'd be sure to keep the bottle on the upwind side just to be safe.

My paranoia aside, it looks like a very stable stove that should hold a good sized pan without much issue.   :tu:

Looks handy.  I would make a test meal on it before trusting it on a trip.

I think that’s a legitimate concern.

Also, in windy conditions, make sure the wind isn’t directing the flame at one of the pot supports.  This can result in structural failure.  Ask me how I know.

Also great points!

Untested gear is always a concern- I don't want to think about how many times I have learned too late that something was just not going to do it's job properly, or that I should have practiced before using it.

Megan and her friend also had an incident years ago with a Mini Trangia that could have left them both very badly burned.  She has never used the Mini Trangia since, and suggests that no one else use one either.   :ahhh

She has since turned to more compact versions of the OP because it's easier to tell when it's burning.  The roar of the pressurized gas helps a lot when it's really sunny and you can't see a flame.
