Day 3:

Marbles Demo Knife Clone.

I ran into some problems with Flashforge's STLs (honestly, I'm wishing I'd went with a smaller printer from some of the better makers--i.e Bambu or Prusa--or heck, the barebones Ender 3) for the enclosure, as it doesn't hold the display well. I cut the tubing for that design, nad ran out of Bowden tubes.

I'm going with the "minimal" enclosure which uses most of the hardware and parts from the kit, but a superior design for the printed parts--especially the display mount--as it uses the stock holes that the display snaps securely into--not the Flashforge design that uses tiny magnets.

Day 4:

Ideal/Colonial Electrician's Knife. Bought used, and haven't seen another.  I was told by the founder of the current Colonial that these were a giveaway from Consolidated Electrical Distributors and Ideal at an electrical trade show in '06.

I have downsized my "too lazy to go to the shop or basement" tool selection to a mini toolbox. However, they only fit stubby hammers.

Mine is 75% Kobalt, including the box. Until recently, Lowe's didn't have one other than a mail-in for the Build and Grow thing for kids.

However, they recently came out with one under the Project Source (even cheaper than Kobalt) line. I wasn't driving an hour to the Lowe's that had them on the shelf, so I had it shipped to my door. Because I had rewards points--total cost $0.00. I buy enough stuff from Lowe's to the point my rewards status gives me free shipping.

Personally, I like this one better than my old Pittsburgh--much better handle.

Well, i did order the big Böker Tech Tool 4 whit the Saw, Bottle Opener, Plier, Skizzors, as im anyway have to Order a few things ^^ (an Macbook Stand and an TV Keyboard),  i had allready 2 Bökers in my Collection, this "Griplock" which was a nice Knife even though i did sadly Belt Carry it and broke the Scales.., and an Small Gentlemen Folder which was also quite nice ..
This will go as Companion to the Swisstool Spirit, i hope its Skizzors are better than them from the Swizza which are not usefull..

And whit Micarta Scales its will not get that dirty like the Swizza Gummi Skales ..

Day 5

I think I started with camp knives.....   First one I owned was a Cub Scout knife that I found in the high grass around a play ground.  The wet grass had played hob with the blades.  Nice and rusty.  I didn't dare tell anyone else at school I found it.  Every kid knows about 'take away'.  Eventually that was what happened with this one.  My Dad took it away and sold it.
On the plus side, he did replace it with a 'Demo knife'.  1966 USMC marked.  Another Camillus like my Cub.  The springs were stiff.  It was heavy.  I didn't use it for anything.  I let him have it back, and he sold it too.  I had a civilian one years later.  Camillus Dura Brand.  I think it was marked Camco?  Camco or Dura Brand, either was just a utility grade Camillus.  I bought it for a dollar at a flea market and let my pal Hardin have it.
Rough Rider at Food Lion.  The shackle isn't long for this world.  There has already been one scout knife on this thread that had been unshackled.  Might have been friend Echo with a Richards?  It looked so good, that I have decided to follow the example.  Soon.
Best wishes.  G

Day 5: Cut open the seal on a new container of coffee with the blade, and posed for a vanity pics.  I don't mind this knife.  It fits well in my hand, and the tools are well made and easily accessible.  It's fascinating to see how Peter Hug and Co. worked their way around the Vic/Wenger patents.

I'll be doing the same thing soon Dan!  55 degrees F here this morning.

Day 4

The LionSteel Jack 2 is a premium SAK-alike.  F&F and W&T are excellent.

The tool set is obviously pretty minimal, but it’s a joy to carry and use.

Blade was extremely sharp right out of the box.  I was surprised how little force was needed to cut a couple of zip ties.

I’ve done a little light prying with the screwdriver/cap lifter, but nothing else at this point.

No locks on this tool, and no half stops.  I prefer my blades without half stops, but think half stops on screwdrivers make some sense.

I can see this one getting some pocket time, both during and after the challenge.

Cigar duty of course…

I wonder: is the Böker Techtool in the Familie "SAK"? Böker is a German Company, but its also an Multifunktional Pocket Knife meant to be an Tool rather than a "Weapon" .. like our favorite  :climber:
There is no Can Opener on it, but i would suspect that the Can Opener on the Spirit is also working fine

I did today cut some Bands on the Shipping Cardboard Boxes of Stuff whe got for our Company whit the Skizzors of the Swizza S09, was not that good working than yesterday.. , will post the Picture when i make the real Post this evening..

Nono: Peaple are seeing Pocket Knifes these days as a Weapon because the MassMedia is quite busy writing Artikels whenever Peaple get stabbed, i have a Boyscout Background and did grown Up in the 1980/1990tes, a Pocketknife was allways an Tool or an Toy for us, but never an Weapon,

I was writing that an SAK/SAK Alike is allways a Tool, even so its one you have to take extra Care to not harm yourself

Day 5

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

My Camillus crossout tang is yet seeing pocket duty. A very capable little knife.

But, returned to my office and checked my extras box.  Found a second OZARK pocket knife with grey scales and an awl instead of the Phillips.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

These are pretty good tools, I recall buying several, was maybe $3 each. Made good gifts to those that were knifeless when I encountered.
I know two are still in use today.
One was gifted to a co-worker, while on a job site, he had little knowledge of pocket knifes, used box cutter or fillet knife when cleaning fish or normal kitchen knives.
Sent an email checking in, (had not seen since I retired five years ago!  Says he thinks of me frequently every time he puts that knife in his pocket…

The other, I know in use, was given to one of my Y life guards before departing for Spain to teach English at a school in Madrid just before COVID.  ENDED UP TWO YEARS!  Gave her the Ozark expecting it to be confiscated as she is traveler and just expected it to occur.
Nope, when she returned and we were catching up, she produced and had several stories of using and almost loosing it in Switzerland traveling via train.
She now is in third year of law studies, this last summer saw her, while home,  says still using OZ, she called it, and the Climber I gifted is part of hiking kit when trek g woods of Maine.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

:like:

That's a beauty BPR and being named John a lot of my friends call me Johnny so have a little envy

I've a couple of their knives but very hard to get here in Australia these days, not to mention pricey

I would probably never have gotten one if I hadn't gone to the factory store. Even paying for gas I probably saved compared to the ebay prices, etc.

Some great photos for today, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 5

Tried the awl for removing one of those pesky plastic tag holders from a new shirt. Unfortunately, I needed the shirt so I looked halfways decent at a memorial service for one of my best friends.

The awl did a pretty good job. Coming soon: awl vs. water bottle.

Watching your friends and relatives die off one at a time is one of the worst parts about getting older.  Every time I see my old school chum Eddie, either he has someone to tell me about or I have someone to tell him.  We shake our heads, then Eddie goes off to play golf with another old school chum Bill.  Life goes on.  Just a little emptier.
Best wishes.  G

Walmart does sell some decent knives/tools for the price

I just can never bring myself to go there because they are too busy and chaotic where I live

Very sorry for your loss Dan.

Day 5

I put my Colonial Sportsman to good use  today.  Used the flat head to tear apart a light switch, used the blade to sharpen up a pencil, and then used the awl to start a hole in some drywall for a screw.  I with the awl came to a sharper point though.

From left to right: Colonial Sportsman, Colonial Mountain Guide, Imperial Matterhorn.

Notice how the Colonial Mountain Guide and the Imperial Matterhorn look almost exactly alike.  I've read that the owners were cousins which might explain the similarities.  Still pretty cool in my opinion.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.
